THE SYKO CHALLENGE - we need your help!!!

As you hopefully now know, Sunday April 30th will be a very special day at Hartsdown Park.

 

Wellsie and I are trying to piece together the MFC first team / squad that Paul played such a part in winning promotion from the old Southern Division to the Southern Premier at the end of the 1990's.

 

So far (for our sins) we seem to be coming up short every time we discuss the squad... and thats why we'd like your help.

 

We'd love to try and re unite that squad for THE CHALLENGE and so if you've got better memories than us (too many visits to the club house after games!!!) and can you come up with the squad in question I'm sure everyone would be more than grateful!

[color:"blue"] The team that one promotion at Brackley in May 1999 was Turner, Lamb, Martin, Edwards, Emerick, Dixon, Munday, Saunders, Sykes & Planck. Subs used were Pointer, Utterson & Takaloo .. Lee Spiller left the club the week before we gained promotion. <I have a copy of the Thanet Times article that celebrates the win (with me in a team celebration photo)>.

I remember that day standing & sitting on that bank behind the goal(Does my memory serve me right there?)

[color:"blue"]Yes, there was a corrugated fence at the one end of the ground (which we attacked in the first half) & a grassy bank behind the other goal. We had over a coachful go up there & during the second half, when we'd heard Folkestone (our only threat for promotion) were losing, we did a konga around the ground & up and down that bank.

Wasn't that the season that we signed Phil Collins ? When he couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo - as I seem to remember seeing him score a rare goal at Erith & Belverdere (their old grund by the railway station). It was the season after the Fulham cup run - so had Bugsy left?
