Youth Football

Im not sure if MFC is working closely enough with the youth set-up at the moment. Maybe next season with the reserve side this will change as it needs to if we are to be the best for youth in the area. Of course it is not something that will change over night but in time I would think the club know they will have to work very closely with the youth side. I understand the under 18s had to provide all their own equipment which I find a bit odd.

I think a lot of it comes from the coaches. If we poached a couple of good youth coaches in the area the quality players would follow.

The under 16's didn't play at the weekend but a friend of mine who plays for them said that they have been offered Hartsdown Park to play their last 2 games of the season, must be because the pitch is getting ripped up at the end of the season anyway. Hope they do play there as they will probably get more support than usual.

The main thing is it would create more interest in the club if we had a really good youth setup. Then there is the chance that we could see a really good player or two come through the ranks especially with a reserve side it will be possible to see some progression. The Suburban league is a much better standard than the Kent league lower divisions.

The examples of Dover and Ramsgate suggests to me that the Suburban league is a bad choice.
MFC need local players.Borehamwood have 8 players from their own small town in the team.FA trophy semi finalists suggests to me team spirit is probably not too bad.
Ramsgate also have a good team spirit and having seen both levels of football,i would say if they can keep their team together they could be a real threat in the Premier league.

The youth section needs to draw in as many good local players as possible.
It should be building for the future and the reserves should be a natural step up.

Once again. Refering back to the last Misa open meeting when KP said a youth development officer had been chosen and would be starting in the next few weeks,(6 weeks from meeting).

With reference to the Margate youth teams the Under 13's are now climbing up the Kent Youth League, they beat Fisher 3 - 0 yesterday away from home, only the second defeat of the season for Fisher, and their first home defeat for 2 years. They have there own website at www.afcmargate.net which has match reports etc.

The future is bright for this age group, and they are the best team in East Kent.
