Or was it the lack of light your floodlights give out FF? Still, with the clocks going forward tonight one hour that will allow you an hours less dimness & more daylight on your pitch from now on till the end of the season.Another hour without your floodlights having to be switched on.You must be really happy about that.Mind you the oposition might stand a better chance now that they dont have to play in the dark.Lets face it your lads have become accustomed to the dimness whereas your opponents havent had that luxury.Just imagine how many points you would have had by now had all your games been evening games.

At least you agree with me that its not good enough.May I suggest you get onto your club officials immediately to rectify the situation before its too late and you are refused entry to play us next season.

How can you reply to something anyway that is so obvious, even to you.Despite your great form on the pitch dont assume that promotion wil automatically come with it.Your club have a lot to do first OFF the pitch.I believe your players deserve to go up but they dont deserve to stay where they are just because your club wont upgrade sufficiently to pass the grading criteria.I think that your club & its supporters should be more concerned with that side of things rather than if you win the league. You have the league at your mercy but other aspects need sorting out quickly or else all this years gloating will have all been a waste of time.Mark my words and quote this post at the seasons end will you please?

lol. It was AWFUL on the Red side of Thanet, the rain clouds came down to signify Margates darkest hour.

You started with the jokes FF but I ended up with the more serious posts. Still, getting off thread here. Back to the "target 1000" thread eh?

In two weeks time we WILL know what is happening we may even know next week. A win against Horsham will put us near enough up and then the final push for the ground work will start.

I think it would be more beneficial for Margate not to do these "kids for a quid" days every game. If you done then every two or three months when there is a discount day you will probablly get a page about it in the local press and may get a gate of 700 or so.

A good thought Rob. Thank you. You are growing up more with each day that passes. Well done. Your comments are taken on board though sadly those kind of days & decisions arent down to us meagre supporters.

Its like the tickets in the gazzete. The people of Thanet want things for free or at a discount price.

If we lowered the ticket price by a £ we would not get any more fans. Offering £ off they see it is a bargain and come (even if they do not like football).

People get used to your child prices being a quid they think this is the norm for football of that level. Where as infacr it is a very good deal.

If you say that to Margate football club then they will take it as an insult.

Well it seems that way Alex. Maybe it is only because the suggestion came from me.

Sorry but the personal e.mail I got from the club made it personal. This IS about running the club. Its about someone other than officialdom wanting to try & help increase income and attendances. You know that old saying speculate to accumalate, but in this case it would be to cut the cost to count the profit. It dosent take a lot of working out to see how this could benefit the club,in more ways than just the added income it would bring.Yes,even little ole' me can work that one out.

Had Ramsgate enticed just 50 more people there yesterday, dropping a £1 off the entrance fee works out at 50 X £1 lost from original entrance fees but this would have been offset by the 50 X £6 that would have been paid in. Total net profit of £250. Thats just an example. Had there been no deductions at all there probably wouldnt have been an extra 50 souls there at all. Plus the fact that those 50 people may then come again paying the full entrance fee of £7.Added to that they may come again & again.I seriously think it worth a shot but then again, like you say I/we arent running the club so thats that. I am only talking of a "one off" at this time thats all.

just been looking at a few web sites, and it gave me an idea, alot of Business's have they own web site, what about putting a link to MFC, this may create a bit of awareness. They must be alot of fans who have their own business plus the directors etc.

Opinions please

Especially Cookies as this was his thread

Agreat idea Minime. You are doing well lately with your posts.I would happily do something of this nature but alas my knowledge of computers to do so is very very limited. If someone with more knowledge can do so I in particular woud be grateful as I am sure others out there would be too,not forgetting to mention the club of course.

Anyone willing & able to help out with this?

I know its a bit late in the day but I have in my possession a small card with all the Ramsgate fixtures on it for the season.Obviously I dont look at it too often but it is there should I need to look up where they are playing at a certain time,& it is certainly handy to have, especially for planning ahead. It was hoped to have some ready at Carnival time but they didnt materialise unfortunately.

Although we only have a few home games left we could rattle up something to cover those last few games in a similar way and distribute them to the public.Again, costs would have to be looked at and some may have to give their time for this but with the info being in possession of hopeful additions to the attendance figures it would I am sure would be invaluable to both them & our club. A final run in of home games or such. Maybe its well too late for that for this season now but its something that really must be looked into for next season without a doubt.

cookie,

All we have to do is tell everyone what the Margate site address is then they can add it as a link from there own site.

so lets start the ball rolling with the board, most if not all have a web site I will speak to them to get the link going, if anyone else knows anyone with a web site let them know. It won't increase gates straight away but at least it gets the club more awareness

As far as the card is concerned I think this is a brilliant idea. Surely loads could be printed up for next season and given to shops etc. It should be credit card size and maybe to pay for it a sponser could be found for the other size???

Any sponsers should contact Cookie, although I think it is worth asking the business men on the board to sponser it.

Surely its worth the cost to the accountant or solictor

Both excellent ideas. Im sure a sponsor would be jumping at the chance to get involved with these fixture cards. As Phildminime says loads and loads would be good ! Probably talking in the thousands here. Given out at the carnival, given to shops all over the isle. What a fantastic idea. Of course-dont forget to put on them kids for a quid!

Following on from the suggestion of having a small fixture card and how it could be done. This got me thicking and I set to work to create a 'mock' version using a simple design and using Word I have managed to create a mock type of this season's fixtures. I was thinking that this document, if you like, could be passed onto many fans who could print it and give them out, perhaps at matches, and therefore this would share the costs of printing between each other, and they can then be given out to those it would appeal to.

The card itself can have two printed on one A4 page and fold twice into roughly a 9x7cm booklet. cookie, specifically as it is your thread, would you be interested in seeing what I have come up with, it is basic but more colour could easily be added. I would be interested to hear if you or others think this type of fixture list would be suitable?

All please post comments on whether this should be looked into...
