OKAY , you may think this is getting boring but, let's not get carried away with yesterday.

It was good to win and certainly good to get 3 points, but the manner in which we won is still a concern.

Lets be honest, Ilfords away record is fairly poor and their last away win was in August, but we struggled to control the game for longer than short periods and once again failed to hit the net from open play.

In my opinion if we do not get the forward line sorted out soon , like NOW, we will slip away from our lofty position.

We had good fortune yesterday with some of the other results, but we still have to play 3 of the top 6.

In my opinion we need to sort out our front players. Deano came in and did a good job in the first half pushing forward, but then with them a defender down he played the second half behind the front two. On Jim's orders I assume.

Smithy ( in my view our only real centre forward )comes on and plays behnd the front 2.

Bryan Hammatt held up play reasonably well but am I the only one that gets totally fed up with him going over so easily.

Trevor Paul is so low on confidence that he passes the ball when in front of goal, rather than miss.

Rudi is our saviour again with a pen, but we can't rely on pens every game can we.

Since the turn of the year we have played 10 ( 5 home 5 away ) games in the League and scored 13 goals. of these Rudi has scored 6 ( 4 pens ) then our mate OG has bagged 2, the rest are with our forwards hitting 3 - Paul 1, Smith 1 and Hammatt 1 pen. Then Negus and Valandra 1 each.

I believe this demonstrates the desperate need for a goal scoring forward.

Our League position is fantastic and beyond the start of season thoughts of any of us, but, now we are up there expectation is high and supporters want to see the Club progress.

We need that goal scorer. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

The daft thing is the player with the best goal scoring ratio for town this season 2005/6 IS Dean Nyman. But he is playing behind the striking strikers? This is according to Jim Cunneens infallible stats.

We looked short up front today, and I mean that literally. There is no height, only pace. And when coming up against 6'+ defenders, ???? and ???? never win a ball in the air (and yet we still play long ball alot???). We need some height up front to knock the ball down to one of our pacy strikers.

By the way, this is from the Staines FC web site and not ours. Sounds familiar?

Dont think you, I, or anyone needs to say anything THM, the stats are stacking up by themselves for us to point at.

Against Boreham Wood I thought Bryan run himself into the ground & against Uxbridge on Tuesday & Ilford yesterday he did ok, but this is a player who use to bang them in for fun for Hemel yet in those three games (and on numerous other times this season)I cant recall a single attempt at goal by him, so is it Bryan or the formation & the role he is asked to play?

Either way its NOT working, my worry is how long Jim is going to perservere, I hope he proves us all wrong and Bryan & Trevor click & gets us promotion, I however am not convinced they will.

As I said in my opening post, I think Bryan held up play well but he is forever going down looking for a pen or free kick.

To me this just shows a lack of confidence. When did he last have a shot on target ?

As for Trevor, he is worse.

He will not / cannot shoot and will look for the pass rather than miss target.

I actually think both are not bad players BUT they would do better playing off a front man....rather than being the front man.

I think we should try a few games with Lee Smith up front with Deano playing off him.

Better stil the Management should be looking to bring in one or two new forwards...there have been plenty of names posted on here over the last few weeks to give them some ideas !

Something HAS TO BE DONE. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />
