Mud Bath

Staines-upon-Thames Rebel

Recommended Posts

Until now, most WEFC followers seem to have been in favour of helping out our neighbours STFC through the rent of Stag Meadow. Remember that STFC as a club pay nothing for this arrangement. It is paid by a property developer who believes his patronage of a football team could provide leverage with the planning authorities and enrich him in the future. i.e. it is a speculative investment.

If the comments by "Staines Rebel1" are representative of STFC as a whole, then it's time for WEFC to unilaterally cancel this arrangement with ungrateful STFC. Let's see how WEFC do without the money and how STFC do without the ground instead of just talking about it.

Please stop this mud slinging ...it does both clubs no good..

Mal...stop over reacting to the negatives...

You know and we know we both need each other at the moment..and this does not help us...

you know the real reason's about the pitch..problems...

too many teams playing on it..not enough TLC as sandy was able to do...a dry summer did not help and the late start to re seed it ! Plus now not a groundsman..relying on contractors.. ( ????)

Please don't have a go about slough doing the odd jobs around the ground, we should not be doing any but if we choose to help then thats our choice....so please don't have a go at us...

we need to work together and we need to help each other too...

cheers chris sliski

If that is true (and I don't know one way or the other) - I don't see losing the reserves as a great loss. Given that we (Slough) have struggled to a) field a side and B) find any time to play the matches.

Some interesting comments on here from people who have no say whatsoever in either clubs' finances!

Leave the negotiations to the people who actually run the clubs [and put the money in] and we'll see how it all turns out.

One of the items of interest in the papers the other week was paying on a game-by-game basis at York Road, given the last 3 years payment delays you should get your first game on in time for Christmas!

Windsor Sec - Interesting that you bring up rent payments on a fans forum just a few words after saying that fans should leave the negotiations alone. Nice bit of contradiction there.

Perhaps I should be all hypocritical and remind you rent was paid on time for this season? Nah, best not. Wouldn't want to rock the boat on a sinking ship.

i agree with you there martin, it would probably be good for us to expand the first team and reduce the problems by taking the best of the reserve players and losing the rest, but thats just my opinion.
as for the whole ground issue i would like to see us stay local ie windsor or maidenhead

No contradiction whatsoever BFR, two distinct paragraphs one was a suggestion, the other a personal comment based on fact - the fact is the money WAS NOT and NEVER HAS BEEN paid on time and if anyone told you it has then you've been lied to, but that's nothing new either is it?

...'rock the boat on a sinking ship' an oxymoron if ever there was one!

How can it be possible to post a 'personal comment' whilst under the title of Windsor Sec, Windsor Sec?

If I've been lied to then so be it. Better to be told a white lie than to put idle threats into the local newspapers of league expulsion when you are actually prepared to offer some payment slack.

I would also check your definition of Oxymoron before you apply to go on Mastermind

Oxymoron - figure of speech that combines two apparently contradictory ideas ie rock the BOAT on a sinking SHIP!

Please explain how it can't be a personal comment, Windsor Sec is my personal login therefore any comment made under that login must be a personal comment, you don't need to be Mastermind to understand that!

The rent thing is beginning to wind me up now. I think both sides need to just sort it out with an official statement next season if we are at Stag Meadow (and if- as Mystic Meg Anonymous states) We are going to the flood plains of York road so be it. All i can say is that, althought the figure does seem high especially considering the income we are able to gain from the situation, if it wasnt for W&E we would have folded, so i think everyone just needs to stop bitching about the sitauation- if slough had a ground- lol- and we were Landlords i personally would hope we would milk them for every penny they had.

Oxymoron - is a two worded paradox - a good example of which is bitter sweet or describing you as an erudite moron.

Rocking the boat on a sinking ship is neither two worded nor indeed a paradox. I suspect most sinking ships would be described as rocking prior to sinking.
