Hall, Negus, Woodward, Gant, Allen, Hannigan, Velandia, Hall, Paul, Hammatt, Nyman, Smith, Hall, Baldwin, Ofori, Magona

The game opened with Chopper forced to save early on. Styles nearly put into his own net in the top corner with a looping header. Town were beginning to thread some lovely balls together. Bryan Hammatt threaded a lovely ball through to Dean Nyman who was then brought down unceremoniously in the box. On 22 minutes Rudi Hall stepped up and despatched the penalty 1 – 0. Ilford did not sit back and took the game to town. Chopper was forced to save. Finally Kieron Woodward was brought down heavily and Cross was given his marching orders for a second yellow card. Rudi Hall’s free kick went for the top corner and Ward was equal to it saving well. A Matty Negus header was saved and a shot was from him was saved to. Steve Velandia was brought down in the box – no penalty and this was blatant too. Chopper saved again. So a lively first half and now Ilford were working doubly hard to avoid to keep Town at bay with 10 men.

Town began the second half positively but Towners were concerned we were still half in the dressing room. At the other end Chopper at full stretch with the ball going just wide. The shot was class and Towner’s felt it was in. Dean Nyman had a shot wide. A rocket shot from Steve Velandia brought off a fumbled on the ground save. An Al-J header was saved. Town were playing flowing football Matty Negus shot deflected by defender. Shot from Trevor Paul is saved. Trevor Paul had a one on one shot go wide. Lee Smith on for Dean Nyman. Bryan Hammatt just missed a flying header. Some inspired work by David Allen was passed to Lee Smith whose shot was saved by defender. Lee smith had a shot saved. Kieron Woodward had a long shot blocked. A lovely flowing move from Matty Negus to Trevor Paul and on to Lee Smith who was offside. Shame! Chopper forced to make one handed save. A Trevor Paul cross/shot goes just wide. Matty Negus was booked. Bryan Hammatt shot from deep.

On full time Adam Gant received a fat lip from an Ilford players back elbow. Chopper protested to the ref and was booked for his troubles. Gary Blackett got his handbag out but was dragged away by Danny Clarke. Clarke enjoyed up the Town fans applause at the end. Kev Riley was an unused sub for Ilford.

A hard won win by town.

I left right on the final whistle so I missed the after game bust up. I guessed something was up as I could hear the ref's whistle when I was halfway down Goldsdown Road.

I thought there was some really nice football being played, and some good moves being worked up through the field. Pity we only got the one, but we still got the win.

And my daughter loved being mascot even if she did want to go home at half time. Thanks to Gilli for making Robyn's day so great!

Got to be the first time ever that Town have been awarded a penalty that i havn't appealed for. Can't complain though. We had have dozens of genuine penalties turned down this seasons.

We went to three at the back today.Seemed to work well.Dave Allen had another great game at the back.Hannigan was solid and seems to combine really well with Allen.Velendia had a good game.Matty Negus had a very good second half.Nyman had a decent first game back as well.

Thought Hammond and Clarkey would cause us more problems than they did.

We are still missing too many good chances.Could have won by 3 or 4 if we had been more clinical, but definately an improvement on recent games.

A round of applause for the stewards who put the railway end goal up in exactly the right place. A few inches to one side would have given us a different scoreline.

Overheard on the stewards' radios yesterday.

Dave - Someone has let in an animal into the ground.

I'll come and have a look.

Dave, it's 6' 2" in height!

You have to agree that a round of applause should go to the guy in the suit yesterday. He must have been quite hot in the Foxes outfit and never once was he put off when he heard shouts of 'Tally Ho'.

Andy, All good fun with the Fox, but why was "it" allowed to stand in front of the seated area. ( along with a few others ).

And,

Good to see ball boys, so lets keep them coming, but they need to be careful.

One nearly got his head taken off as he was very close to the goal.

With our shooting they should be outside the penalty area line at least !!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

What got a red card? I hope he did too, he deserved it.

How bizarre is this penalty & sending off run in Enfield Town games?

What are the stats on that now Jim?

Long may it continue I say as it seems to be the only way we can make the net bulge!

Remarkably the oppo have had 12 sent off and we have had 16 pens. Mind you we are no angels with 7 sent off!
