A good performance

A good performance today against a strong 4-4-2 side. Wouldn't argue with the result as we had to soak up a lot of pressure especially during the first half.

In case anyone missed it, the corner that resulted in our goal followed a beautiful defence-splitting pass by Brayley to Hockton, who cleverly played it off the defender for the corner.

Hope Pat is not too badly hurt. Any news anyone? Having said that, I thought Hasim Deen put in a towering performance.

When is Mitten expected back? This guy makes some good stops, but his kicking puts us in trouble at least a couple of times a game.

I thought Anthony Allman had a good game defensively again, and Trott was very commanding (but he should wash his mouth out).

Very hard to name a MOM. Any thoughts?

Borg was amusing wasn't he? Mind you that tackle towards the end was badly over the top. He was still having a go after the final whistle.

We looked like a proper top half of the table team today.

Todays performance was fantastic we are really starting to look like a team now. Braintree were very poor up front, Behcet did not have much to do, could not really have saved the equaliser of what i saw of it as there was a few playes in my way. I hate George Borg, highlight of match is when he had a blue shirt chucked over his head and he Borg said 'Lino i am being attacked.' The officials were appalling today.

The margate choir were in excellent form today werent we lads, apart for those 5 mins in the second half when we went a bit quite.

If we play like this for the rest of the season then we will finish mid-table easily. Looking forward for our next game against Wealdstone, whos going?

Well done Margate good point today by the way. UP THE GATE

[color:"blue"]Agree with Chris1's comments about Behcet, a good shot stopper but his distribution is erratic. Heard Charlie expects to be back in a fortnight. Agree also about the difficulty of naming a MOM - my choice would be Allman - another sound performance.

Agree with Alex. Trott my man of the match. Kept Revell out of the game for 85 minutes and he was the only danger, the man they played everything through. Brayley again excellent, Deen also very good, Hockton full of running.

Six games unbeaten now. You could tell Braintree were on form as they were playing with confidence. No reason why we cant win it next season though as they didnt impress me as much as I expected. We did miss Gradley's composure and had it not been for the Borg sending off we would probably have held our focus and won it but he made a fuss on purpose and got what he wanted. I wish someone would throw the book at him as you cant bring the game into disrepute like he does on a regular basis.

I would have taken a point before the game but, considering we conceded the equaliser in the 87th minute, I can't help but be a little disappointed. But, nevertheless, I think we have to be happy with a point. Good performance from all of the lads today, thought we deserved to win. Behcet had another good game; I must admit, I think i would prefer to have him in goal than Charlie.

I think we have to 'take heart' from the fact that, if that (i.e. Braintree's performance) is all that is required to be at the top of this league, next season should be very promising for us.

Unfortunately, my next game will not be until the Chelmsford away game. Hope to see you all then! Up the Gate!

A great performance, unfortunately let down a little by the attacking down the right side. I thought Lawrence did well, but a bit disappointed by Oatsey today. I can see Darren being an excellent keeper in the future and wish we could hang on to him, but with a fit Charlie I'm not sure he would get a game. His kicking was a little dicey at times, but again that will come with more experience. All in all very happy tonight.

Alot of talk re:Bechets kicking, and whilst not there today, i have seen him kick it into touch quite frequently about halfway line.

However-at this level -so what.

That may even be a better tactic than kicking it down middle when inevitably the opposition get possession.

If ball goes out on halfway, worse scenario is a throw in, from which you have a 50/50 chance of winning the ball anyway, and it buys you time to get organised.

Agree it may not lok very impressive, but the detrimental effect of kicking it out is nil.

And i also think he is a good shot stopper and CK did well to secure him at this stage of season as posted above

Darren is a great goalie, and he has kept us in the games both last week and this (amd before that, even).

The odd kick goes awry, so does everybody else's.

I am really glad we have him, and if it were not for Charlie and Paul, I wish we could keep him.

The defence certainly seem to like and trust him.

darren very much reminds me of charlie when he was with us before his kicking was diabolical something he has worked hard on and is now ok .as for the game. we did it again threw 2 points away playing too deep trying to defend a 1 goal lead.defence is sound midfield very poor going forward.not 1 decent chance created from open play.keister made a difference and the game was crying out for sessay to replace a very tired yiga to attack their less than convincing defence

But no-one has mentioned the goal, yet.

A goalmouth melee, then Robin Trott dinks the ball in a looping trajectory over the head of a defender, where it falls, on it's downeard path, just exactly where it should be, and is best placed for Danny Hockton's head to just gently guide it downwards into the waiting goal.

Bloody lovely, and looking at that, I felt pretty good about our future.
