Margate Football Club has received a number of enquiries about the contracted youngster Osman Sesay. As part of our Club's policy to support the progress of any player with the opportunity of joining a Football League Club, the Directors have approved an approach from Fulham Football Club who will take Osman to Craven Cottage for a weeks trial, which commences on Monday 20th February.

Up the Gate!

Absolutely wasted here.If Fulham can see something why cant we.Agree, its good for Osman but annoying that we havent got the best out of him.He wont come back! Nice timing for such a statement too, I dont think.Morning of an important game.

Good luck Osman. You will flourish from here on end. Shall be looking at your progress with interest. You will go far, guaranteed.

Doubt he will be good enough for todays team will he? Sorry, but typical!!

mmmmmmm !!!

He is only going for a trial chaps.

I don't think he will be in the Fulham first team next sat.

Arguably the non league scene is more physical that the upper echelons of the league, and by nuturing him, MFC may have helped him.

I think mfc have got this one right.

Maybe he will sign for Fulham and as part of a deal get loaned back to mfc for more experience.

Michael no one is saying he will be in the FULHAM first team next week. Its the sheer fact that his talents have been noticed elsewhere whereas they they havent been used here to the full.He may well come back who knows and me might not click elswhere but the fact still remains that his talents are there for all to see...except it seems, here! As for nurturing.Yes,he has been kept "safe" by not playing him & while this is good for him it hasnt helped us in the past.

Oh well, its happened and we shall just have to get on with it Good luck Sesay! We shall be seeing him on M.O.T.D too in the future & we shall be saying to our mates "he was at Margate 2 seasons ago" though obviously this is different to the case of Sam.

N.B. Michael,I hear Charalambous may be coming back l.o.l.

Wins against ETU, Folkestone and Wimbledon, best form of the season, and still people find enough room to criticise the management. Whilst wishing Osman all the best, and realising he is a really good player (and he didn't really deserve to be dropped when he was) you shouldn't change a winning team, and whilst we've scrapped our wins by the odd goal, i see that as reason enough to stick with the team, pick up the points and eventually... beat gravesend.

Osman's situation is reason enough to show how we are missing a reserves, whilst he didnt deserve to be playing in them, it would have been the perfect chance to show CK what he was missing, and would have kept him fit and raring to go.

I only hope the best for him, but hope we still see him again in a Gate shirt, but if he plays his cards right could be in the same side as sodje next year.

Good luck to Sesay. He is sure to make it at a higher level eventually. Well done CK for getting him on contract in the first place.

Let's face it, the reason he has been on the bench is not because he is not good enough, just that his raw talent and ball-carrying skills don't really fit the way we play.

He needs slow careful development, particularly of his defensive tackling and reading of the game. What we need at Margate (and have got in the likes of Brayley, Hockton, Trott, Edwards, Oates and others) is confident strong players with good experience. And most importantly who fit the shape of our team.

Maybe one day we will get drawn against a premier side with both Osman and Sam Sodge in it, at which point we can all sing 'Margate rejects'.

if anybody was given the chance to trial for a premiership club who was in a lower league side they would jump at it and it would be bad management if they tried to stop him, good luck to osman and well done Ck and KR for scouting him in the first place. I do agree that this should have been said after todays game but then we would have moaned and said why do MFC always tell us last! Onwards and upwards i say good luck osman and c u next week when you return

Agreed. We would have been having ago.Still, maybe I have overstated that in my previous post about the timing. It will be a topic for conversation amongst the crowd today anyway if nothing else. Its not a BAD thing after all.Just my annoyance at not having the best made out of a very talented player thats all.If all goes well for him I will be delighted. If the club can make something out of this then again I will be delighted. One things for sure he wont get on the pitch today.

Last season we were moaning that we were losing players as they were not under contract. We now have an opportunity to sell a player on to a Premiership club. That is great news and shows that we are still a club to be reckoned with.

No-ones arguing with that Steve. Again, its just the frustration of not getting the most out of him while we had him. That is of course just my view and my one gripe. As for anything else I am in agreement that the move will or should be good for both parties. I think some are misconstruding mine and possibly others sentiments on this.

[color:"blue"]I realise it's frustrating that Osman hasnt been playing, but I think Margate have got it right with him - playing him only when neccessary, he hasn't let us down. The only thing that I'd say we should have done was give him a few more appearances off the bench ... but Chris is often reluctant to utilise his substitutes. Of course if we had a reserve side he'd play regularly.

Best of luck with the trial Osman.

Interested Fulham fan just lookinbg for some feedback on the guy we've taken on a weeks trial. What sort of player is he? Strengths, weaknesses and do you think that he has the potential to make it at the highest level?

Many Thanks & good luck for the rest of your season - btw ... I'm manager of Margate in my game of Championship Manager & hope to take 'em to Premiership glory - already gained 2 promotions from the Conference in 3 seasons!
