Summerbee has gots bags of experience. Johnson could still do a job at a much higher level than the Conference.

Could do with the extra experience to help us out.

Providing we can attract quality players who are still up to it and not individuals coming in, looking for one last payday before retirement because no league club made them an offer.

We certainly need a little spark from somewhere to steer us away from the relegation zone but having said that, I think the players we have will do the the job, just don't want it to go down to the wire that's all.

Not being funny but I don't blame him. After playing in a World Cup, championship and FA Cup winning teams, at 37 years of age why would you want to be kicking around at Tamworth in a Conference relegation fight as not even half the player you were in your heyday?

Although a Gooner through and through, I like the Merse and admire him for turning his life around following his much publicised addictions. Good luck to him for the future and hope to see him back in football, coaching or managing again soon.

It was a weird decision to go to Tamworth in the first place.

Absolutely right and what I think has happened is that Merson has probably realised that following his injuries at Walsall this year and hardly playing, he has come back into a poor Tamworth team and cannot do it even at Conference level anymore so has decided to get out straight away.

Nothing worse than watching a top class player struggling at the end of his career and they always say that you know when the time has come to quit. Obviously Merse knows he has reached the end of the road now, hence his decision today.
