New Posters

Posters all printed off ready for Saturday, advertising 2 games only as Peter thought last one a bit cramped & I agreed, even if it means more printing.

They are games against Wimbledon, on 7th March & Windsor & Eton on 11th March. Posters as usual be on the table in club house. Extras been done as expecting a larger crowd this week

Well done Taffy-A. If i may i would like to ask all the guys who take poster away with them to where ever if they could also pick up a copy of one advertising the Country evening fundraiser with Ollie Austin, Misa are holding on March the 2nd. Any help you can give will be of great value as our last night with Johnny Hooper attracted only 19 people. Thank you.

Sorry to hear of the poor support for Johnny Hooper - but brought in entertainment can be such a hit & miss affair with an unknown entertainer, especially as places like the Britannia have entertainment on the premises for no entry charge.

Perhaps if there was a "sportsmans" evening with someone like Neville Southall as a guest speaker would be more suitable.

I agree with the above. I would travel down from London to attend that. What about "The Cat" Bevan apparently he is one of the best. I would like it to be a dinner occasion at a nice venue. I'm sure you would sell tickets if it is well advertised.

The idea of a speaker night is being looked into. Due limited capacity at our present venue some of the names mentioned would make the ticket price prohibitively high. (One guy approached, a former England manager of the Gascoigne era wanted 10,000 grand to speak, rising as the world cup approached and his profile raised.)Misa have looked into to hiring the Winter gardens and or the Theatre Royal, as Misa is a non profit making organisation which ploughs money made back into the Gaaate to help out at this critical and expensive time. Taking on an event at a venue such as the above is a gamble which if it failed the Misa committee would be left with a debt to service. Lack of support at events such as New years eve when only a small turnout of supporters(4) amongst the 70 attending left Misa with a short fall of around 40 people, hence just braking even instead of making a profit. Misa stands for Margate, Independant, Supporters, Association as such if you are a member it is your Association and needs you to help make it a success and You to help it to keep supporting the Gaaaate. As KP said at the meeting the clubs match day doesn't start when the turnstiles open nor does Misa's ,volunteers are out there from 9ish till Finnish, if there is a function after then it can be 1 or 2 o'clock next day. New years eve it was from 6am till 2am then back in at 9am to clean for a function that night. As i have said it is your Association, it needs your help to increase the 18,000 +pounds donated so far.

Thank You.

My original mention of a Sportsmans Evening was meant as direction for MISA to look at, citing a modest affair Dover had in the Clubhouse. I was not trying to encourage a really high profile evening at a paid for venue (well not for the first such evening) meaning that MISA would have to speculate thousands & risk a heavy loss rather than a small profit.

I'd suggest that someone local but with a recognised name was approached & then an evening could be priced to most people's pockets (£10-£20 like the Peter Taylor evening at Dover). Perhaps if MISA contacted the Dover Trust they'd get some help in organising such an evening.

Myself and my colleges on Saterday thought it may be fun to hold a ladies evening at the social club, thing is we want the players to do a bit of strip for us to raise the money!! Tell you what, a strip and cheap drinks you'd make a killing!! Take serious note MISA!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" />
