Just a quick note to let you all know that Andy has signed Gary Abbott, who will make his debut in the Reserve Match on Wednesday night.

Grays let him go because his lost it all! He couldnt hit a cow's [****!!****] with a banjo at the moment lad's. Although he has the best record of goals in non-league I think its time to hang his boot's up now on a high(ish) and call it a day. Good luck to him though.

P.S any Idea what kind of money he's on? He was on a very big pay packet down here!

If he does turn out to be too old, theres always Richard C, who is considerably younger, would cost less, and also could not hit the backend of a cow with a banjo.

On this occasion it was the lure of Conference football and not money that attracted Gary. He has signed on a non-contract basis and his money is well within our salary structure.

Having said that I dont think I could cope yet with those other Grays favourites , Stimson and Miller , in the red and white of the mighty Fleet !

Your quoting names from my past, whom I go back a long, long way and have played both with and against. Dave from the Isle of Man is soon (or already has) moving to the mainland. Andy Ch. and I first met at school 40 years ago !!! Rob F and Chalky (Phil) also played saturday league football. I do still wonder why I did that at the expense of missing the Reds play.

And don't forget that he and Che teamed up fairly successfully on the Middlesex Wanderers tour only last May.

General consensus seems to be that although Abbott is well past his sell-by date, he's still good for 20+ goals a season. Thereby, hopefully achieving Andy's aim, to stay in the Conference this season.
