ok.

think i've calmed down enough now and got over the nerves of the day to put some quick thoughts down.

wow. what a game. it had absolutely everything in it. the lot. from me chucking a pint in the air, possibly the biggest technical area in footballing history (hi crossy), 2 wild goal celebrations, to a very unfortunate injury and nailbiter of a shootout.

where to start...

well, if you were there, there's not alot i can offer apart from my take on a few things.

1) crossy and co with their celebration to the equaliser which some may say could be seen as incitement. yes. yes he incited the crowd. we spent the whole game inciting him and his players, but does that excuse causing a fight on the terrace? i don't know. important thing is nobody was hurt apart from crossy after the shootout. he's a passionate man, and i for one am willing to forgive him for a heat of the moment reaction in a very passionate cup-tie. he was having laughs with us for most of it. it's because nothing serious happened that i have this more chilled point of view of it all though (nothing to do with anything i have or have not smoked tonight, honest... man.)

2) extra-time injury. it's sickening when you hear that a player is not only injured, but seriously so. glad to hear he's out of hospital as at the time the mutters were of broken legs, swallowed tongues and unconciousness, i know the latter two may have been involved, thank bergkamp he's ok. i know if i was a player, i would probably not have wanted to carry on, so full credit to both sets of players for doing so, especially to the tilbury lads reluctant to leave the pitch and leave their team mate.

3) shoot-out.

i hate penalties

rant over.

well summed up treeboy....

crossy is a passionate man and although he probably did get a little excited when his team equalised I am sure it was all in the heat of the moment and I am equaly sure the eastsiders gave him plenty of stick throughout the game as well.......

I spoke to tony after the match and understandably he was upset as indeed we would have been had the result gone against us...

lets move on and remember that the game needs passionate people (we had georgie don't forget and we loved him for it even if he did go over the top sometimes)...we are back at tilbury for the last game of the season and that may well be a big game for us...(I am certain it will be a big game for tilbury and promotion may rest on it for one or both clubs)...so let's be magnanimous and say 'well done crossy...your game plan nearly worked...hard luck and we'll see you in the spring'... and all have a good last day out and a beer together...

Good words there UU and if Crossy is reading this, unlucky fella, did your lads practice taking their pens at all.

Unfortunately it's part and parcel of cup tie football and the rules are quite clear.

Give credit to the Dockers, they fought very hard but I do think we had the chances as opposed to their only worthwhile shot.

Our fans are worth that extra shade you need in that kind of situation particularly when pen takers can be a bit nervous.

Well, to make a forum you need differences in opinions so I'm gonna bite the bullet and be it...

...It's one thing to show passion when a goal goes in, it's another to skid right up to the away support and entice them. Because that's what it was, enticement.

It's no wonder there was a scuffel in the crowd if that's how the managment acts. Ok, we went mental when Tiffers scored, which probably pissed the 5 Tilbury fans off and their management but we are fans we have every right to go mental.

If Gary Neville gets in the [****!!****] for kissing a badge, what the hell would happen to crossy? Ok a totally different level of football but same difference. IMO, and everyones entitiled to one, it was disgusting behaviour, but thats simply my opinion.

Now let's knock Romford and the Zodians out and have two cup finals to look forward to!

no probs PM..your views are respected....I would only say that crossy has had 6 games of abuse now from us lot and for the most part has taken it on the chin and smiled bravely as we notched up 4 wins and two draws...always in the bar afterwards and always prepared to chat....his whole game plan yesterday was to stop us scoring and either nick a goal on the break or nick it on pens....it nearly worked until we scored and then for them to equalise afterwards......well he just went a bit OT and thats understandable really...we mustn't also forget that when his assistant (wrongly) blamed danny for the injury to his player.. crossy stepped in and pulled him well away..

yes he did go a bit OT yesterday but passions were running high.....we forget sometimes that managers and officials are fans as well...let us not forget what a truly superb cup tie that really was...two fab goals as well...

we move on as you say and romford next up over two legs....no one off cup tie here...class will tell methinks...

mind you...barkingmad said the same thing...

We sat right behind the Tilbury bench yesterday and they were most certainly extremely vocal and extremely entertaining throughout the match.

The linesman tried to calm them but it did not have a great deal of effect.

But as for inciting the away supporters, no, they were no worse and no different to George Borg, though he was arguably more entertaining.

We both enjoyed listening to them, even if it did sound like the same tape was being played over and over again. Some of the comments directed at the bench were way OTT, and there four who were shouting for the injured player to be taken off the pitch right away, completely oblivious to the seriousness of his injury.

As for penalties, this is not the right way to win a match. There was ample time to arrange a replay, and hopefully the League will not again allow an important match to degenerate into the total farce of having to take penalties.

On a technicality are penalty shoot outs classed as part of the game, because FIFA list the result as a draw, regardless of who wins..and it never is Italy..3 times they have lost shoot outs now in World Cup Finals..so stick that in your Mozzerella Coach and smoke it!!
