Amazing to think that new signing Julian Dicks made his debut against Braintree. Time to watch those FA Cup video’s again.

Living on past glories eh? You could always get up to date and watch the FA Cup video of the Slough game, or how about last seasons game at Braintree when you clinched runners up spot? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thefinger_red.gif" alt="" />

No sorry Alfie, I don’t have any videos of any warm up games. When you won 2-0 at our place, you could not have met us at a better time after we played the game of our lives 3 days earlier. I felt that when we left you that night back in March that most of you were left in a kind of shell-shocked state having been outclassed by a team this time properly prepared. Being given the initiative back by us when we lost our next game, due to certain unsettling behaviour behind the scenes, you just not could believe your luck. The friendly in August meant so much more to Gravesend than Canvey. Was there just that nagging thought your end, did the best team go up? Although you tried to put the ghost to rest in August, I believe we know which was the better team last season!

Also, that’s a mighty strange laughing sequence you have there. Is that from David Bowie’s laughing gnome record although it has 3 ha ha's too many at the end.

I really do think it was too close to say who was the better team, but at the end of the day we didnt slip up at the end and you did. Does this make us the better team? I suppose so. Are we bothered, that you have to say, you were the better team, just to make you feel a bit better? NO. Will you the say the same again to your new close rivals this season when you finish 2nd again. Proabably. I dont think the friendly meant a lot more to either team, i just think it was a chance to let players have a run out and we had a few better players, because you have to at this level. Anyway Im not getting involved, please carry on your argument between each other.

Yes Richard. It was very close last season. The above, although with some truth in it, was trying to have the last word in a debate that could run and run. It was a shame that both sides could not go up in the end. Looking at the current conf table, it’s panning out to some extent to the finishing position of the feeder divisions. Burton won their division by miles and are just top in the new teams, followed closely by Gravesend, who with “one other in their division” were head and shoulders above the rest and Kettering were just the best of quite an ordinary looking bunch. It’s still quite close in our division but we have not had the best of starts. Things are hopefully turning around now but there is still a lot of work to do. A 20 game unbeaten run would help. Time will tell.

I think it may be a case that, because you became so high profile, you have to take the rough with the smooth now which is a shame. But as i have said before there are plenty of Gravesend fans who agree that Canvey were unlucky and deserved to go up as well, hopefully, see you all next year in the conference ( and put it this way - nobody can surely do as bad as kettering ). cheers

Hopefully we can have a good run in the Trophy Canv. I think the draw has been kind to us for the next round but again all depends on who starts and what mood they are in. You never know what kind of performance to expect. I’m just hoping that everything starts to click on a consistent basis very soon and that we have a good league run. We have had so many different players this season and has that ended yet?
