We at ETFC desperately need our own Social Cluib to enable us to raise the funds needed to be able to compete at Ryman Premier Level. I personnally believe that the "Board" should be seen to be doing more to enable this to happen.

A fair point Squadron Leader - If you have any opinion as to a venue that might suit then by all means research it some more and make a proposal. They can only say no.

Wasnt it SL's point that that is what the Board should be doing? Are there any current Board members working on venues for a social club?

Its obvious, that we are handing over far too much bar money to Brimsdown social club.Money that is desperately needed to fund our own clubs progress.

What about doing a deal with Brimsdown snooker club? That venue is only a few hundred yards away from the ground. We could maybe introduce a club card scheme with them, allowing the club to take a percentage of the bar reciets during those certain times.Maybe during the two hours before and after matchdays (and perhaps on regular thurdsdays).

Rome wasn't built in a day

I can assure you that the board are not sitting around doing nothing about improving our financial situation; any and all constructive comments and suggestions would be welcome; but I am sure no one expects an open debate on this type of forum

if any one wants to talk, you know where to find me (at the bar - joke) i will be at the game Tuesday and quiz night Friday (working on our own bar) look forward to seeing you

Why would they do a deal? They are collecting the bar money. We are using their ground. What can we bring to the table, to entice them to hand over a percentage of the bar receits.

The only thing i can think of is to make it clear to them that out supporters are thinking of using another venue to drink in before and after games.

Or are you talking about buying the actual lease off of brimsdwon?

LS,

Is that possible ?

Would Brimsdown give up their interest in the ground / bar ?

If that were possible, it has to be something to give some serious thought too - as an option for a few years to establish the Club in the Borough before thinking about a new ground, which let's face it, will only happen if the Local Authority come up with something.

We are struggling with the football at the moment and another game might be too much.

Correct me if i'm in error but the bar takings what brimsdown get off you is surely part of the deal which allows you to play your matches there . your ground rent is 25% of ours , To ask for a % of the bar takings is a bit of a cheek is it not .

I can tell you Lovely Stuff the money from the function halls etc would never cover the £3000 plus wages every week Cheshunt pay out its all done by certain people paying out their pockets. This is why a lot of clubs fall by the wayside during the season cause when results don't start reflecting the money paid out the big chiefs pull their handouts away.Town seem to be doing the right thing by growing big slowly mate

To be fair, Town put 3 times as much behind the bar each home game,as EFC do at Ware.Brimsdown is also not as good a ground as Ware. Also the two main stands at Brimsdown belong to The Town,so technically Brimsdown are loaning those facilities off us.Secondly Town do most of the maintance and preperation of the pitch and facilities themselves..etc.

PS..I wasn't aware we actually paid Brimsdown to use the ground. I thought it was a straight 'Bar receits/hire of the pitch' understanding.Concidering Town put in most of the work in getting the ground built, and subsiquently upkeeping it.I feel that is a bit cheeky on Brimsdowns part to charge us for hiring the pitch, concidering they have got a grade2 standard ground out of the deal, and take a £1000 a game off us in bar money.

I think you will find Enfield Town FC do ALL the work needed at Brimmo. That also includes some "non-football" things.

I think they are getting the better side of the deal.

As i've said before. Its time to play hard-ball with Brimsdown. Its time to improve our side of the deal.

Firstly .How tight is our ten year contract.can Brinmsdown terminate it? Have we agreed to pay a certain amount each season for those ten years??...etc. Our main option may be to go for a percentage of bar money on matchdays. Say 30% of profits between 1pm-7pm on home matchday saturdays, and 30% of profits between 6.30pm-10.30pm on matchday tuesdays.

Of course Brimo won't be too keen, but a word in their shell-likes indicating that the fans are looking for another venue to drink at on matchdays (to improve funding for the club), may make them sit up and take notice. Now they wouldn't want to get into dispute with Towns fans and have a boycott of the bar on their hands, would they.

LS,

Are the bar takings in the periods quoted going to make THAT much difference to the running of the club.

Obviously any money is better than none, but I wonder how much we are talking about.

More money may be made by a small increase in admission charges ( let's face it - people paid £8 at Wood )

More money may be made by a small increase in people thro' the gate - why not have a couple of games that are "Kids Free" and give them a voucher to bring their Parents / Adult to a game where the Adult pays and the kids are free, then another voucher for a free programme etc etc

We need to get more people in the ground rather than the Bar.

In the ground they will by stuff in the shop or some refreshments.

Finally - food is a good earner - why not have hot food on sale ? Let's face it, how many of us by a burger at away grounds ?
