Walton v Slough: MATCH THREAD

Didn't think Leon's booking was harsh at all. He was walking, slowly, to the ball at the side of the running track. The referee gave him a nudge to try and hurry him up and he didn't heed it and appeared to go slower.

If he was injured, he shouldn't have been on his feet and should have got treatment.

All part of the game plan mind to try and slow the tempo down, but took it a touch to far...

The other thing that Alan mentioned was that todays win was our first in the league at Walton in 31 years. Another 'hoodoo' broken by Eddie and his team!

In our last league match at Walton Matt Miller scored his last competitive goal for Slough. He scored for Chesham today but that was not enough to turn around their fortunes. Another defeat for Dennis Greene. I'm sure we all cry.

Couldn't agree more with everything above, except Roger's comments obviously!!! Avery was outstanding, by far his best game for us, and his performances have improved immeasurably since Christmas. I do not believe I was wrong in my original judgment, as he did start the season poorly, however I said at the time, I would love it if he proves me wrong, and at the moment he most definately is.

Clark Masters, IMO, is the best keeper we have had at the club since the Conference days. I know he is only young, but his handling is almost exemplary and some of the saves he pulls off are unbelievable. I would love to think we could keep him past this season, but I think we'll be lucky to still have him in April. Don't be surprised to see him between the sticks regularly for Brentford within the next couple of years. I thought it was also awesome to see his response on the final whistle. How many times in recent seasons have we had players drop down levels either as they approach the end of their careers or on loan, and look like they are just going through the motions and don't give a toss. Clark, at the final whistle, ignored everyone else on the pitch and headed straight for the fans showing obvious joy for the performance he had put in for this club. I have to say that he, as well as all the other boys from Brentford this season have been a credit to their club in their attitude and application to this level of football. As someone said last week, a pat on the back for whoever organised this scheme with Brentford and long may it continue.

What you mean Glen 'im thinking of buying a Reading Premiership season ticket next year' Riley

Oh and according to the Brentford Forum Clark Masters in one of three Scholars that Martin Allen has to make contract decisions on (Charlie Ide another one). With the form he's in lately i'd say that he should easily get one.

B*llocks! They had a man at one end hurrying it up all the time it was in their favour yet were quite happy to let us retrieve the ball from across the running track at whatever pace we wanted up until we took the lead.

Then all of a sudden there were replacement balls being thrown on at every opportunity which had never materialised before. Not sure about Ryman level but favouring one team in that way is against football league rules so it's difficult to have too much sympathy with their complaints over Leon's actions.

The running track has little to do with it. He walked five yards, the ref blew his whistle to hurry the player up as he'd not even got off the pitch, and he continued to walk to get the ball. It's no different to the ball being ten yards down the line and him walking to get it.

The fact is, the ref warned him to hurry up so it's not as though he couldn't have expected it, and he continued to walk and got unnecessarily booked.

Its good to see that sitting in the stand has turned you into an impartial commentator Gary! I thought the booking was harsh for two reasons 1) he was injured and clearly struggling and 2) they had cheated for the whole of the first half by having [a] ball boy(s) in their half.

I am guessing that Chris is showing us a picture of the 5 before the hair and the pies.

On the performance today they all deserve huge praise. I thought it was a tremondous performance given injuries and lack of numbers. Westy is an absolute legend and showed once again that you always have a great footballing brain despite what is going on with the legs.

Mark Avery was immense today and given the recent improvements in his performances deserves a man of the month award. I would also like us to drop the "Mavis" nickname. He has no idea how it came about and can only see it as a bad thing; therefore it must go. He is our player and deserve support from the outset and only justified current criticism.

Hodgey has in my mind long since earned himself legendary status but the last three games sum him up. He has played whilst injured and scored three goals whilst leading the line superbly. He is risking further injury for the team and scoring twenty goals for a side in 14th place shows what a quality player he is. For all the genius of G if the Hodge isn't player of the season it will be a travesty. Although having said that the skipper is very much in contention.

Clark deserves more than a well done. His save was excellent and his delight at the result was a credit to him and his club. I really hope that someone from Brentford is reading this thread or at least the compliments are being passed on.

Finally apologies for the use of the worst word that you can say and to Radders who was on the end of that particular sobriquet.
