Personaly i think the danger will come from midfield.

Gell and Ursell-both decent players.

Despite the recent performances from Hillaire and Yiga, i think we will need a bit of guile in midfileld on saturday and for this match think JK should play.

Maybe even a quality midfield signing.

If we can control midfield, we will stand a chance

Wellsie you are incorrct in stating that this is the first time the two sides have met since the 1970's as the team we met then are now called MK Dons. AFC are a brand new club we have never met before. They do not even play in Wimbledon so why call themselves that it is like Ramsgate calling themselves Deal.

I do know the history and am happy with the text. To be honest, is any club the "same" club 30 years later? I'm sure the Wimbledon fans see the current incarnation of the Dons as their club and Dickie Guy is even their president. That's good enough for me.

On the AFCW site is this bit of news. Ive never known anyone to announce a squad before the day before a match, a bit odd!

Sounds like theyre weak on the right side of defence and I think its their left back who is struggling with an injury and hes got a late fitness test so if we can get wide like we did on Tuesday and get Bertie running at them we can really put the frightners on them. Got a feeling Danny will be really up for this and will stick one away.

The fans will play a massive part as well if we can be loud and get behind them hopefully our boys will be inspired. Whoever mentioned Keister may well be right-at least as a big option to bring on if anyone seems a bit overawed- he has the experience from the Conference of playing in front of big crowds, as do Bertie, Danny, Robin, Greg, Anthony if he plays and Billy so we should be well ready. ps- dont think Yiga will be too overawed, did anyone see him moving his arms to say he wanted more and more singing on Saturday <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

first team news

Dave’s squad hit by injury and illness

Dave Anderson’s squad has been rocked by injury, illness and suspension, with seven players currently on the treatment table and/or facing late fitness tests. New signing Martin Carthy is included in the squad for the first time, and is expected to make his debut, while Wes Daly is suspended.

The full squad is: Andy Little, Danny Wheeler, Wayne Finnie, Steve Butler, Antony Howard, Dave Sargent, Jon Boswell, Michael Woolner, Dean Brennan, Martin Carthy, Michael Harvey, Dwayne Plummer, Robert Ursell, Chris Gell, Shane Smeltz, Richard Butler, Liam George, Niall Connery, Mark King.

Josh Lennie is ruled out with a badly twisted ankle, while understudy-elect Danny Wheeler is suffering from flu along with Wayne Finnie. Michael Woolner (shoulder) Chris Gell and Antony Howard (both groin) and Dwayne Plummer (back) all face late fitness tests. Meanwhile Simon Sobihy, is awaiting the results of an x-ray on his suspected fractured toe, and could be ruled out for up to three weeks.

Dave Anderson said: “We won’t know for sure until tomorrow, but I’m hoping that most of them will recover in time for the game. We’ve had to call up a couple of youngsters as precaution, but I have no problem doing that. It’s at times like these that you see the full value of having a good squad of players.

“But you can never have too many good players. We’ve done a bit of transfer business today, and I hope to do a bit more in the coming weeks – I want us to give ourselves every possible chance as we make a final push for the play-offs.”

And Dave has called upon AFC Wimbledon supporters to play their part in tomorrow’s game. He said: “I’ve already mentioned that I thought the supporters were magnificent on Tuesday, but the danger is that – after such a big game – it feels like we’ve been to the Lord Mayor’s show and come back. I want the players to be just as motivated for this one, and the supporters can help lift them again. If they can get anywhere near where they were on Tuesday, even just for the early part of the game, that would be a tremendous boost for all of us.”
