It has been reported that Alan Mullery has disassociated himself with the club already.

Crawley fans seem quite pleased he's gone, judging by their forum.

 

They're also understandably bemused at Mullery's assertion that "my brief when I came in was to help the club become more professional and I think I have done that because a lot of things have improved", what with them being in the relegation zone and all that.

It's a problem that happens every season with Chelsea the biggest victims being the team with their slick passing football. Put your tissues away for them though as it didn't seem to cause them too many problems tonight. You'll soon hear a story that tells you "they'll be doing work on the pitch over the summer which will mean they will never have to relay it again". That later is what Ken Bates column in the programme was called seeing how he was saying it every year.

The pitch at wycombe wanderers is partly astro turf with, grass woven into it. (so ive been told, but by a reliable person as i work at the bar there). The problems with Chelsea pitch is supposed to be the under-soil heating not functioning properly, and hasnt been for several seasons, again so ive been told.

They reckon its also due to the pitch being enclosed by the stands and no sunlight / wind being able to reach the turf. Not sure how other clubs cope but thats the theory.
