No Idea

Have been talking about publishing a Fanzine and looked at Issue 5( September 1995). written by Eddie Miller and Steve Sullivan. ( Wonder if Stu M can tell me who Eddie Miller is although I appreciate he hardly ever goes to Home games let alone Away?)

The content is not that dated as many of ther articles could relate to this current season.

Club History only the dates need to change.

Lots of moans about Liam not signing players recently same article re Chris Weller.

Silly ground names. i.e. lets play at Gay Meadow, with the second leg at Gay Dawn Farm. Ref of course you guessed Paul Allock ,Lino's, J. Diver and B.O. Toggle

You know your a scum supporter If you own a home that is mobile

but 14 cars that arn't. surely that much be Canvey. etc etc.

A couple of people on the Trust Board are investigating the possibility of a fanzine at the moment, but if you think you could help with articles or printing, perhaps you could pm, Harry J.

If anyone else has any other editions of No Idea I would love to look at them and perhaps the first edition of the New Fanzine, which could perhaps be called, " Still No Idea", could do a comparision of then and now.

"Eddie" Miller... I was clearly in a younger phase when I thought it was hip to abbreviate my name in a really crap way. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Jessica, I have a full set of No Ideas... somewhere. I can pop them into the club shop at the next home game.

I wouldn't worry about Stu M... the poor chap is something of a Jekyll and Hyde character anyway.

No Idea was an excellent read & the boys did really well to push out the 5 releases in such a short time. The cartoon strip was probably the top read with such episodes as the Portway card school & of course the story of the FA Cup win at Sit*in*bou*ne. It did co-incide with a period of success for the club so much of the satire was aimed at other teams & institutions.

Of course some may remember there was an earlier publication called "Halfway Chat" which was produced circa `84 (I believe by Mssrs Anson & Fothergill) & this was before the word Fanzine had been invented. Although only 2 versions were produced I believe there have been claims that it was the first publication of its sort.

Sounds like a good idea to have a fanzine, maybe fans on the terraces could have an input if they hear any little funnies and maybe a review of other grounds that they go to, also was wondering wether anyone from the club shop could tell me if they will be selling the new conference magazine that is due to be released.
