Futsal tonight

I know a few of you were off to see Chopper in action for England tonight - how did he get on?

Chopper and Alex Haddow played in the England team that lost 7-3 to the vastly superior Finland. Haddow scored England's third.

Chopper and Haddow looked well suited to the game which places a lot of emphasis on speed, movement and close control. Finland were better organised and therefore able to control the game. The England players struggled to find space and time. It helps that there is a professional Futsal league in Finland.

Actually Haddow scored the second but that's just me being pedantic!!! Interesting event, definately should (NOT) be looking to sign up England's keeper though. The bloke had a shocker, and even more ironically was a spitting image of a certain Slough centre-back!!!

 

Should also add that while the Finnish National Anthem was playing, Al spotted mine, Dom and Webby's Slough shirts and immediately nudged Chopper to tell him. At the final whistle Glen made a point of clapping us and doing some mock bowing which was greatly appreciated. Cheers Chop!!!

 

Oh, and the Mullet no longer has a mullet!!!

Yes, disappointingly, someone has stolen most of Alex's hair. Chopper and Haddow did fairly well against a well-organised Finnish side which clearly has bags more experience at this game. Finland scored first, England levelled, but went in 2-1 down at half time. Finland then raced into a 7-1 lead before England got two back late on.

England lost the second game 9-2 with Haddow again getting on the scoresheet. Apparently FUTSAL will be featured on tomorrow's Football Focus.
