Aldershot 0-0 Billericay

At 1455 would have taken a point, but feel we were unlucky not to have taken all 3......

Aldershot play 85 mins with 10 men.

Best players for both teams were defenders, Adedeji was superb for us, their no 6 kept them in the game heading a goalbound effort from Essandoh over the bar when standing on the line. Carthy had a downwards header rebound off the goalkeepers legs and R. Graham hit the post when well place 2nd half. Aldershot had a lot of possession, but failed to convert into clearcut chances. 1 effort bounced off top of bar 2nd half, but JJ had little to do and he did it well.

Off to Hitchin and their open-plan ground next.....

you felt you should have taken 3 points? ha ha ha, the ref was once again [****!!****], he probaly had a borg`s underpants on as he seemed to be sh*tting himself with the fantastic support from all sides of the ground: also your turnout was cr*p, 50 at most standing down the side. perhaps you all had borgs underpants on as you were all standing a bit funny. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shotgun.gif" alt="" />

I like the jibe at our support. You lot might as well not have turned up. You didn't sing and to be honest we forget you lot were there, tucked away beside the South Stand. Good game though. I think the Shots can be proud of the outcome considering the officials dire decisions. He was certainly the most inconsistent ref I have seen in recent years. That said though, even your 11 men plus one MIB couldn't break down a ten man Aldershot with a third choice keeper over 85 minutes of play!

i thought a draw was probably a fair result, altho we created the more clear cut chances they battled away well with their ten men and made it hard for us.

i also do think that for once we got the benefit of most of the refereeing decisions and wallace was lucky to stay on the field considering his offence looked very similar to the one the aldershot bod got red carded for.

i thought tactically we were well off the pace..the whole complexion of the game changed after 4 minutes yet we did nothing until half time. one of our most effective players in the first half (henty) was sacrificed for brennan who was once again crap. on the plus at least richard graham got another run out and was involved in most of our best moments in the second half and adedeji had easily his best game so far for us.

it was probably our lowest turnout for an away match this season. the aldershot smart arses may want to consider why that was...decent people generally dont want to come to places where they are made to stand in the cold for over an hour before the game, not allowed into the bar, and where history dictates they will be pelted with coins et al, and where there has been crowd trouble in the recent past.

lets hope we can take 3 points at hitchin and get back in touch with the pacesetters...cmon the blues!!!

You are quite right Aldershot is the one away game I do not travel to for the exact reasons given. I do not wish to take my wife (who travels with me to most away games) to the potential trouble at Aldershot. We go to games to enjoy them. I will be travelling to Hitchin on Tuesday and any other away fixture we have this season if possible.

Fair enough, Aldershot have had some bad press recently. Some (not all) of this is justified. It will affect our attendance and we have to deal with it. However, it doesn't quite account for your fans lack of enthusiasm during the game! I always believed ricay fans to be passioate (after all, you lot aren't without your tarnished reputaion are you?).

If so many of you don't come to Aldershot because of the anticipated trouble, then are you trying to say that you would take well over 50 fans to Basingstoke or kingstonian? I don't think so. Your home attendances have been poor by your own standards recently and I think that the travelling distance put some people off too. Don't go making excuses for your poor turnout yesterday(and dire vocal support), your club quite obviously needs to do something to bring the fans back again. See you after Crimbo.

Yes it was a poor turnout from 'ricay fans (worst away following of the season, and yes we do take more than that normally). But that has more to do with recent form then anything else. Going to Aldershot is the most overhyped game of the season regards trouble and will put a couple of people off. Still it was reassuring to see Aldershot [****!!****] bricks from the 80 or so who did turn up, all those policemen and stewards just for us. Enjoy the invoice when it turns up!

I think the most disappointing thing for me Saturday was going to 3 at the back in the second half. It left so much room down the channels which Aldershot exposed at the start of the second half, especially by the 8 (I think). Mark Graham is an attacking winger and is wasted having to defend so often and picking balls up deep in his own half.

I also thought DJ should come on alot earlier, I don't know if he was carrying a knock or just tactics (I think i can guess which one), a bit of pace up front and an outlet ball was required.

Also, hats off to Ollie, played like a man possessed.

Apart from that 0-0, fair result.

i thought is was a good well earned point. i think the players have responded well to the bad form recently. the players are obviously going to be a bit low in confidence, but the players showed good fight and determination.

having said that we badly need 3 points to stay in touch with the 4 teams above us - hopefully we can obtain them tuesday.

our form hasn't been good recently but we are still in touch with the leaders and remember we have played aldershot (2nd in the league) away, st albans (1st) away, purfleet (3rd) both home and away hendon (4th) home and kinstonian away. the game yesterday was only aldershots first against any of the top six - so they are bound to drop a few points soon as they face hendon, hayes and kingstonian soon.

keep the support going against hitchin tuesday - COME ON RICAY

For once i did agree with going to 3 at the back (in theory). Against ten men for 80 minutes playing 3 at the back made sense, BUT we dont have the players to do it. Brenners was too deep thus making the grahams have to drop back. It was a good idea but we dont have the players to carry it off, also we were playing ok with 4 at the back and shots best chances were in the second half when we switched to 3.

Jamie was stupid to raise his arms in retaliation but he never really made much contact.

I thought for once the management did right by going all out for the win by putting 3 up front, surely against 10 men you have got to be looking for a win and not be content with a draw?

Plus points - Ollie had his best game (although some previous showings were poor)

Chris Moore was superb.

Team battled well.

Could have won.

Negatives - having to say our defenders played brillaintly against 10 men

lack of support

why didnt we stand behind the goal? any singing we did would have sounded much louder under a covered stand.

BUT..... the thing that got right up my nose the most was at the end of the game. Borgy bought the team over to applaud us which i always really appreciate, it shows that no matter how few or many of us there are we are noticed. But what gripes me, is where was Calder? Borgy may aswell be the manager, Calder played no part in the teams warm up apart from standing there watching, during the game Bory was vocal and up out of the dugout. And at the end of the game borgy walked to us knowing he would be given abuse from the home fans whilst Calder was probably in the dressing room plotting to list yet even more of our best players.

Well done to the players and Borgy for sat, much improved and unlucky to snatch a win.

lets all get there for tuesday and make some noise.

I don't want to gripe about Saturday as I think it was a good performance with many players clearly giving their all (Olli, Jamie, Morro to name but 3).

However, 3 at the back we looked really vunerable. And taking set pieces. This is something that we never seem to have been good at under Calder, and now it is getting worse. We always end up going backwards, often to the keeper. We now even give the ball away frequently from throw ins. We have to do something about this. Why do we put corners to the back post when there is no one there? Why is there never anyone standing just outside the "D"?

We just throw advantagous positions away. Does it really need 3 players to launch a freekick into the wall? Sorry but this is a real annoyance of mine.

Loved the comment from the anouncer about the Billericay fans enjoying the Aldershot hospitality. Where? It was bloody non existant. Bar closed, a burger van and porta loos. Not to mention loads of police because, of course, we come from Essex and are thugs.

And on top of that, I thought they were an average team which could've been beaten if we had gone for 'em after they were down to ten.

Sh*te club, sh*te team!!!

apparently mark brennan has joined canvey!

and i felt aldershots hospitality on saturday was non existant- they didn't even have anyone to tell meet and direct supporters to the turnstiles - and no water in the stinky portaloos! but of course we are scum and we know we are! Pot calling the kettle black as someone wrote in the nonleague paper over the weekend!

ha ha ha...

do me a favour, you played for 85 mins against a team with only 10 men and you (who are supposed to be one of the teams who will challenge) looked like you where the side a man down.....

Riccy aren't a bad side, but the fact your crap up front (highlighted in the table) suggests you aren't going tobe good enough. Strong defence though...... Ollie (not surprisingly) played well on saturday, but he still can't kick the ball properly......

but *average team*......... yeah what ever....

Your main problem will always be the handicap you have by having George Borg associated with your club.......

As for the hopitality........ ? no better or worse than at your ground.... although why they dont let you in the social club is beyond me.... never mind......

Shots sh*it club..... sh*t team (in your opinion)

Billericay.. not so much a sh*t team, but definately a sh*t club!

'80 odd' ricay fans? You should visit your GP, double vision can be serious. As for things being crap on Saturday, I thought that both teams played well and neither were 'average'. The thing which I'd associate with the word crap is the ricay support. less than 50 mutes by my reconing!

For your information 'Shitto', there was a full coach load. As you may not know (being a [****!!****] and all) our coach had 49 people aboard. Add to that another 30/35 who drove, well you can do the maths. Thinking about it you probably can't. That makes roughly 79/84. And if I wanted to get my eyesight tested then I'd go to an opticians and NOT my GP, TWAT! I can also assure you that we we're singing. But seeing as the great Aldershot hospitality stretched to banning us from the bar, making women and kids stand on open terracing for an hour and 15 minutes prior to kick-off, given that you gave us a row of portaloos that had just done a stint at Glastonbury, not to mention the tea that alone should have been segregated, and given our poor turnout, the mood was somewhat subdued. But then I can remember plenty of Aldershot visits where you've had to be prodded with a brolly to wake you up! Oh and guess what;

Wey hey! Thong in a twist or what. If you must know, the optician wouldn't be able to help with diplopia (look it up in a dictionary, if there is one in Essex), he would refer you on to your GP as it is a very serious medical condition which requires investigating, possibly by an opthamologist, but certainly NEVER an optician. So in your own words, how does it go..........'TWAT!' You ricay morons really should learn to be more polite.
