[color:"blue"]Read the article on KentOnline, however it was the Chairmen of the competing teams that decided on the 'toss of a coin' for the home advantage of the Final. I believe this was done because Gillingham were getting the lions share of the Final gate money for staging the Final there.

A shame really, I remember in my first season as a MFC fan in the mid-90's when we beat Chris Kinnears Dover at Preistfield - even their old dilapidated stadium was a wonder compared to the Southern League venues we'd attended.

Perhaps Gillingham / Charlton & Millwall could be 'persuaded' to donate their venue free (alternating every 3 years) in return for their continued 'exemption' from the competition.

It would make the Final a better reward for the fans.

Not the most exhilerating of games. Both sides had chances.Gate defence improved the more the game went on.Once we went in front for the second time we started to find gaps which we stated to exploit. Not the same Folkestone that we saw from previous, lacked that extra bite. No lamb & I think they missed his presence.

Hilaire exceptional as was the goalscorer Yiga. No one really played badly,it was just a run of the mill game i.m.o. But A game that the players should be satisfied with. They all put in a team effort tonight and did the job well..No subs used.

Terrific volume from the choir boys.About 40 0r 50 Folkestone fans there.

1)Behcet - Did his job well. Not really much to do all game. One blinding save just before half-time which when the ball was parried out was missed(A sitter with half the goal to aim at from 8 yds-guy put it wide for Folkestone). 8/10

2)Oates - played well tonight.Overlapping and joining in with the attack.Good free-kick from just outside the area, dipping and pushed over by keeper. 8/10

3)Edwards - A quiet game but generally sound. 7/10

4)Donovan - Played well tonight. No errors and generally performed well all round. 7/10

5)Trott - Very vocal, winning numerous headers and joined in with the attack on many if not all dead ball situations. Did well. 7/10

6) Gradley - quiet game, but performed well, still looking a bit tired. Needs more time to fully get fit I think. 7/10

7)Yiga - Ran & ran all night. Found spaces and scored two good goals. First a good header & second a good through ball that he took a bad first touch with but still managed to put it away well.Did extremely well tonight. 9/10

8)Standen - Started nervously but gradually improved.Didnt venture up as much as Oates but did well. 7/10

9)Brayley - Ran all over the place without making much impact.Always encouraging those with him, up front.Good solid erformance nevertheless. 7/10

10) Hockton - Did well also without inspiring but generally worked hard..Just lacking that extra pace at the moment. 7/10

11)Hilaire - Also ran and ran. Helped out all over the field.Took people on and looked very hungry for goal. Did very well.9/10

(Above numbers NOT nessasarily the shirt numbers)

Good solid performance by all.Nothing special tonight but looked more solid at the back and often looked dangerous on the counter attack.

Folkestone disappointing, not too dangerous, only on the odd occasion.Had some decent chances but generally finished poorly.

One local rival manager in attendance. Got some stick(or was it his brother)from the choir.Very amusing.

Another good allround display by the Gate who are showing more confidence in each other. Yiga is turning into a nice little suppport player from midfield and took both his goals with sum aplomb. He now looks if he is really enjoying himself although because of that 2 nd Red card shows (understandingly) some reluctance to tackle.

Whilst Hocton did not score tonight made some good runs and should have scored if he had held his run for 1 second (ruled offside but did put it in the net).

Hilare is also supporting the front 2 very well and was unlucky not to score.

When Allman is fit he will have to fight for hs place as Deano put in another good performance although he did concede the free kick from which they scored.

As i say an encouraging display and now for 3 points against AFC Norbiton.

Excellent display-couldn't fault anyone. Even Standen looked more assured tonight. Keeper could have done a little better for their goal but he seems to be growing in confidence and I think he's doing a good job. Great vocal support again. Good to send them home unhappy mainly due to the uncouth bonehead fan giving it large in the first half down the Hartsdown end. Could have been different though if they had put away that sitter at 1-1-what a glaring open goal miss heh! heh!

When we really get going like we did 15 minutes into the second half we look pretty unstoppable-bring on the saddoes from down the road.

I agree with Cookie's comments and ratings. Particularly Hilaire and Yiga, who I would have made MOM even without the goals. Good providing, flick ons, lay offs etc. A real revelation.

Brayley and Hockton both seemed to run out of steam tonight in the second half.

I don't know if Gradley is fully fit. A lot of his passes went astray as if he didn't have enough time, and he also overhit a few. Maybe he needs a couple more games to get mentally back into it. I would have given him 6/10.

Ditto Donovan, whose back line tackling was great, but seldom managed to find a team mate with his clearances.

The only other player I would have given different marks to is Standen, who yet again played some fabulous forward balls and made good defensive tackles. If it was him (and I am not sure) who played in Yiga for the second, then he should be 8/10. If it wasn't him then 7, and add a mark to whoever it was, because that was the greatest pass of the game.

How blatant does a handball in the area have to be before that ref gives a penalty? We got a corner from the first one and naff all from the one in the second half, when you couldn't ask for a more obvious case of controlling the ball with the hand.

The Margate singers were great. Well done lads (and lasses if there are any)! I especially liked the rendition of the 'blues' song, the one that goes der-der-der-der-der-der-der, der-der-der-der-der-der-der, not because of its touching lyrics, but because it is not one you hear at every football ground.

I was rather looking forward to a continuation of the Sesay-Lamb thing, but Lamb was in the stands and Sesay didn't get off the bench. In fact CK must have played his best available team, despite all the talk in the paper about resting players. I wonder how many spectators were put off by that.

Damoah was on the bench too I think.

Overall I enjoyed it very much. A good end to end cup tie played in good spirit, and once again plenty of passion and skill from our boys.

I like the idea that Standen does not get too far forward, and plays a proper full back role,as opposed to wing back, which just does not work at this level ,where players get caught out between defence and attack in no-mans land.

Just let the defenders concentrate on defending,as if you do not concede, you do not lose.

Good all round performance. Actually watched D.S. specifically in the first half and have to say he looked quite impressive, doing his job well defensively, and not doing too badly when he went forward either. Liked the look of Yiga a lot, its easy to see why C.K. stuck with him after 2 reds in his first 2 games, many other managers would not have done and would have lost out. I also think Ian Hilliare is looking very good in an attacking midfield role, possibly more comfortable than as a striker. Danny Hockton looked sharper and much more up for it as well once we were in the lead, possibly worried about being overshadowed by Lawrence? All in all vast improvements recently, looking more dangerous coming forward, and more steady at the back.
