Waltham Forest 0 Enfield Town 1

lovely stuff

Recommended Posts

Their goalkeeper was a bit of a p..t today when Kojo needed assistance and was eventually carried off on a stretcher, which was found by Ken, our sub' keeper!

Not a very good game but three points in the bag.

Two more opponents sent off with Campbell very lucky to stay on the park.

I agree - PC was lucky to stay on. It was pretty amazing how quickly Chopper ran up the field to the fraca outside their box. He must have run almost as quickly as Ken did for the stetcher!

Well done Town and well done to the new Kieran (forgotten his last name!). He looked good on Tuesday and his touches this afternoon showed a lot of promise.

Campbell pushed the No3 in the chest(The No3 who had just viciously headbutted Matty).I thought a yellow was the correct decision, concidering the provocation.

Headbutt? Although I see your point, you cant raise your hands & shove someone over, it should have been a red card.

Hall, Campbell, Woodward, Allen, Hannigan, Stephens, Velandia, Hall, Paul, Hammatt, Negus, Smith, Kamata, Ofori, Mercer, Gant

Gate 165

Well it was one of those games we would have been unlucky to lose but we still had to win it. Bryan Hammatt had an early volley across the goalmouth. Steve Velandia shot over the bar. Suddenly after a 50:50 ball a Waltham Forest player went down injured. A World War II stretcher was brought out and Belton-Mackenzie was carried off. Every time Bryan Hammatt had the ball he was scythed down. Kieron Woodward was brought down with a nose bleed after what looked like a back elbow. Bryan Hammatt shot over the bar. Trevor Paul made some lovely threading through moves before they were eventually snuffed out. Chopper made a save. David Allen shot just wide. Bryan Hammatt was fouled just in front of goal. Matty Negus did well on the left side before the defenders snuffed the ball out. Waltham Forest headed wide past Chopper. Just before the end of the first half the ref appeared to be losing control. With players being booked for silly offences.

Second half continued the way it ended with Bryan Hammatt being fouled and the Ambulance for the Waltham Forest player was still awaited. Free Kick Rudi Hall just wide. Trevor Paul was on fire before his shot was so weak that the keeper just gathered it. Trevor Paul was then adjudged offside. Bryan Hammatt brought down in the box – No penalty. Matty Negus brought down. Waltham Forest shot wide. Lee Smith on for Trevor Paul and Kojo Ofori on for Steve Velandia. Almost within seconds of coming on Kojo and Bryan Hammatt went for the same ball and it sounded like a pair of coconuts being broken. Bryan Hammatt was out cold but Kojo looked groggy but OK. Rudi Hall picked up a rebound after a goal mouth scramble and nailed it in the corner on the ground. Lovely jubbly 76 minutes and town grab the lead. Kojo on the left wing was playing exhibition football linking well with Rudi Hall to show his skill. Suddenly Kojo went down again after a ball in the face. Kieron Mercer came on for Kojo Ofori. Seconds later Kojo had collapsed at the side of the pitch unconscious and bleeding from the mouth. The ref stopped the match and Ken Kamata ran and fetched the stretcher. I think we all forgot at this point that there was a football match as they tried to care for Kojo who was drifting in and out of consciousness. Thank you to Father Jack for assisting with the mobile telephone to the ambulance service who in the end took Kojo to Whip’s Cross. The match played on and town gained 3 valuable points.

And if you want to say thank you to Roy Austen for all the hard work today patronise his business on the willow estate. Well done Roy the hardest working man on the pitch today. Physioing for both sides it seemed.

Well done Town, good to be back to winning ways.

Pushing someone would only be a red card if the referee deemed it to be Violent Conduct, if the ball was out of play, or Serious Foul Play if it was in connection with playing the ball. Pushing is generally a direct free kick offence, not in itself a card offence (unless it is deemed to endanger the safety of another player).

that was a nice little ruccus at the end wasnt it! our two certainly deserved to go, but i think your player did too.

Any news on your injured man? Got none on ours yet.

Thought a draw would have been a fair result as we were over you for most of the match, we just didnt really create any chances.

Your players went down like a sack of spuds at every oppoutunity, and because the ref was such a wimp, he too the crowd's side, and gave most of the decisions to you. No less than 5 times was our center back elbowed or punched when going up for a header.

A goalkick was about to be taken when the altercation between Matty & their number 12 took place, 20 players then went running over to the incident, Campbell was 1st there & gave the number 12 a two handed shove in the chest that bowled him over & there then ensued a 20 man handbags melee.

Im glad the ref did not send him off & maybe took into consideration the provocation, but would not have been surprised if the ref had sent him off.

Gazza. Why a question mark over the word 'Headbutt'.It was the most blatent, vicious, and unprovocked attack, that i've seen on a football pitch in many a year.

Regarding the Forest poster.Yes, our No10 went in late in headed challenges on you're no5 several times. Our No10 was also on the receiving end just as often. The ref seemed to actively encourage these sort of dangerous challenges,by letting them go unpunished.

Agree, not an easy place to go, but it could have been a lot easier if we had played football on the deck.

Our 5'6" forwards were no match for the 6'6" defenders, but still we persisted with the high ball ! ! ! Why ?

A good three point for sure, but, we still need that goal scoring centre forward.

Didnt see the incident myself but thats the first I have heard it was a headbutt, I was told by several behind the goal it was a punch to the back of the head.

Forest mate your side were very physical (nothing wrong with that in the right way) tall & what appeared to be young.

I do hope your keeper thinks long & hard about his behaviour when Kojo collapsed, & your number 5 needs to calm down too.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Totally agree OT, all it did do was win us free kicks now & then which we then......floated into the box!

Update on Kojo courtesy of Arkwright...

Apparently he is concussed, but that's all. He will be kept in at Whipps Cross overnight for observation. That's all I know right now.
