I think it was ALWAYS sh1t really!!! I just always seem to remember Five Star posters and Wham lyrics. Look in - now that was a real mag! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Smash Hits was brilliant in the mid-late 80s, I reckon. Possibly because of my age though.

 

Went downhill in the era of the faceless dance acts and boybands really.

 

Mid 80s, they were allowed to print swear words too, which made it seem a little more 'adult' - they phased that out in the early 90s.

I bought Smash Hits whenever there was band on the cover that I liked (i.e. not very often). Remember a good interview with OMD to promote their classic Dazzleships album. Genetic Engineering is still a top tune!

I was very much a teeny-bopper when I was young, though - loved Duran, Wham, A-ha, Madonna etc. - so it was ideal for me!

 

I had it delivered every week (oops, fortnight!) from 1983 up til about 1990.

 

It was all New Kids On The Block by 1990 though, so the subscription was cancelled!!

 

I've still got a few copies at home!
