Jeff Buckley

Recommended Posts

I was listening to my 'Acoustic 1' album last night and on CD 2 is 'Halleujah' by Mr Buckley and I've decided I may invest in a few of his records. Any suggestions as to where I should start? Also, I have a few questions about him that I've wondered for a while:

1. How old was he when he died?

2.When and how did he die?

3. Is Tim Buckley his brother or what?

4.Where was he from? I know in his songs he sounds very American, but you never know.

No question where to start: "Grace" is a fantastic album. The only studio album he completed before he died. Contains his original version of hallelujah (originally by Leonard Cohen of course). Recommend you follow it with "Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk" a posthumously released collection of odds and sods including many songs destined for the follow up to Grace (not all finished though)

1) 30

2) Drowned

3) Dad

4) Yup, he's american.

I have the Old Grey Whistle Test DVD at home with a fantastic piece of Tim Buckley, I think the song was called 'Dolphins', Tim and Jeff look so alike..

Radiohead cited him as an influence and if you don't own it get yourself a copy of 'Grace', it's worth buying or at least a listen.

Oh yes and it's time for my periodical pkea buy 'Natural History' by I am Kloot, Boots have just ripped off the start of 'No Fear of Falling' on the '7' advert.
