'Town makeover'

Recommended Posts

You must remember that the council believes (in my humorous opinion) :

1. Football is not a community sport. In other words, no-body is interested in watching or playing it at any age.

2. Football does not bring money to the borough, especially when a match might have 2000 people coming to the borough from elsewhere not spending any money

3. No money can be made out of football - See point (2)

4. Football ruins a perfectly good piece of grass, which could dug to pieces and have buildings built on it - with back gardens too small for a 5yr old to kick a ball in.

5. Football is bad for you. If you didn't play then you wouldn't get a)exhausted b)injured

6. Football is bad for the well being of people, it allows them to congregate, talk, and be happy (depending on the result, of course)

You must also remember the Heart of Slough project has been on the cards for years - and lets remember it deals with Slough Town Centre, hence the heart. Nobody in their right mind is going to install a stadium bang in the middle of the central business district. I can just imagine the planning meeting for that one

'Hey, we're going to knock down the library and build a new one'

'I know, lets squeeze a conference graded football stadium next door to it, there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo much room for one'

'Hey, you're right. Nobody likes the moon and spoon anyway. We can use their pub as a car park'

Hey, after Saturday, I'm testament to point b!

Agree with BFR on this one. Makes the KP decision to build houses on that even more bemusing given 1300 homes will be put in as part of this Heart Of Slough project. Even more so, with them being slap bang in the middle of town, close to the M4 and Slough train station, you can bet they won't be affordable either!

Done a few calculations but may be slightly incorrect

14 seats up for grabs

9 of them are not held by Labour.

Labour need to gain 6 more seats to take control

So win 6 of 9 and hold their own and they are in.

Can't see it happening myself
