borg in mass brawl at chelmsford

the essex senior cup game between chelmo and tree was abandoned after 70 minutes tonight as the players management, staff and officials all entered into a mass brawl on the pitch. It is not certain who started it but onlookers appear to be blaming craig edwards and george borg.

 

either way it appears that the issue was serious and apparently women and children were running for the exits screaming and frightened. I hope and trust that no one was hurt.

Is this a good advert for grassroots football and the youth football of today <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> yes it does go on and I have seen it at rush green but I dont like it and even had a parent complain of some of the bad language upset her as her 7 year old son wants to come and support his local team

The fights are part and parcel of ice hockey = 2 sports for the price of one.

 

Maybe football should have more fights to encourage attendances.

 

If not fights, maybe goalies should be allowed to carry a 3 wood and wallop any opponent who dares enter his box.

 

I know I'd wallop anyone who tried to enter my box...

it would certainly be an idea to settle matches after extra time rather than the lottery of penalties.

 

5 a side brawl in the centre circle, if no clear winner after one minute, keeper is allowed in with a weapon, then every minute a tooled up player is allowed in.

 

worth a trial anyway. howabout during a burnham vs wabbey game?

How about a duel in the centre circle between the two captains to decide the winner and go for the Blackadder choice of weaponry..cannons at 30 paces...sounds great idea to me!
