scotland has always been a dumping ground for players who couldn't / wouldn't make it in the english game, e.g. sutton, gazza, with only larsson that i can think of being the exception.

 

why are their players so poor compared to the quality of managers?

 

is this the long term effect of having an almost closed-shop premier league, stifling local talent?

Andrei Kanchelskis as well! I think Scottish football is in demise at the moment with the possibility of the league becoming more open again... Teams like Hearts and Hibs, are closing the gap on the Glasgow teams...

I think its a good thing, but the standard of Scottish football is not the best.

Very true treeboy. Laudrup never did it for Chelsea, and I can't think of many players that have come from Scottish football and done well in the Premiership.....

dont agree tree boy. laudrup was in larssen's bracket. laudrup was in the rangers glory yrs i.e dominance and larsson was in celtics dominance. those two were key players for me.

laudrup tried in a bigger league and failed.

 

success in scotland means nothing, as we're all agreed it's a tinpot league that is of comparable standard to our 2nd division.

 

laudrup a mediocre player at best who shone in a crap league.

 

larsson - cream will always rise to the top.
