Current hyped bands No.2: Sigur Ros

So, who knows anything about Sigur Ros then??

 

I've heard a bit about them in the music press, and I'm intrigued by the fact that their new album has got no song titles!!

 

Are they any good??

I saw them at Southpark, The Radiohead Gig in Oxford, I really didn't get in to them, their lead singer had the strangest voice and they sounded a bit too 'style over content' that said, I might think differently if I heard them again.

 

I prefered it when Humphrey Littleton did a half hour set, the crowd responded really well to him. We areall involved inour own little jazz club, nice.

I saw Humphrey Littleton at my graduation! I can't remember if he played or just spoke.

sigur Ros wasn't some of their "music" on a Tom Cruise film soundtrack, hence the sudden media interest

 

also anyone got a copy of the Boards of Canada album (vinyl)?

I get the feeling the film might have been eyes wide shut, but it's just a hunch.

 

Someone copied a 'Boards of Canada' album but it was a compilation, some of it sounded ok. I'll check it out when I get home.

About two years ago, the Melody Maker gave a free CD with one of their issues called '21st Century Noise', with a load of bands that they predicted would make it big in the 21st Century. One of them was Sigur Ros and on the album is a song called Svefn-G-Englar. Personally, I think it's awful and sounds like those whale music tapes.Unfortunately, I've thrown out the magazine I got it with but I can tell you what it says on the inlay sleeve of the CD cover which is that they are signed to Fat Cat records and had an album out called 'AGAETIS BYRJUN'. Sorry I couldn't tell you more!

The Boards of Canada album was Geogoddi, or something like that. As I say I didn't get in to that or Sigur Ros for that matter..
