The other daft thing is that, technically, the County Cup competition has priority over all other competitions that we take part in (as far as I recall), so theoretically, we could be forced to postpone an important league fixture/ big FA Cup game in order to play a KSC game. In practice, it very rarely, if ever, happens, but its always a possibility.

well it would be nice of the club to inform us supporters through the reporter of the pricing for this game unlike previous seasons when you turn up and they expect you to pay the full amount on the night

Surely, given the fact that this debate has been going on and off for a few years now, the fans would know it will be full price?

Er, because it's a different competition?

In the last round there were only three players who were not first team players plus Richard Hodgson who has gone on to become a first teamer.

Without any game at the weekend, I wouldn't expect it to be much different.

(incidently two of the non first teamers scored that night.)

Maybe because they were the only one's interested !

Back to the price thing though, I can remember going to Charlton and Gillingham a few years back in the same competition and they certainly never charged their full admission price, so something must have changed or is th ewool being pulled over our eyes ?

This all sounds very strange. Have the club actually asked the KFA whether it is possible to lower admission prices in order to increase attendances and revenue?

Presumably, the KFA take a cut from any gate receipts in order to finance the cup. It would therefore be in their own interests if they were to allow us, if requested, to lower the price from £12 to say, £8.

Unless Liam wants to feel the wrath of Slarti's scathing posts again like last year, he should seriously consider fielding a strong side.

I am sure Liam won't be lying awake at might worrying about what I or anyone else posts on here.
He should be putting out a strong side because once again the KSC is the only thing we can win this year.
It may not be the most prestigious trophy but it is better than nothing and although a mid-table finish is no disgrace and certainly as much as we could reasonably expect in a transitional year, ending the season in March does nobody any favours.

Perhaps the club would consider issuing "discount vouchers" of (say) £4 to all who attend the KSC match on the basis that the vouchers can be used against the entrance fee for the next Conference home match that the holder attends. Those that attend will get into two matches for £20 as opposed to one for £12. To some this will be an incentive, to others it will not. However, it does get round the rule (if it exists in the form indicated) of charging a lower price than normal. Unfortunately season ticket holders do not benefit (myself included) and neither would the Dover fans. Any other suggestion?

I think the biggest reason for Clubs not taking this competition seriously, and i've said it before, is the poor sponsorship, leading to poor prize money! That is the KFA's responsibility, and they don't seem worried about it.

The Secretaries of all the competing clubs should make this point known at the KFA's Annual General Meeting!

Agreed AFF - the competition is given little or no publicity by the KCFA, instead it's left to the clubs to drum up support for a competition that offers little in the way of incentive.

The KCFA could do with a little marketing tuition to see if they can't improve the levels of sponsorship and interest. A little more planning about the venue and timing of the final, and a bit more effort on the competition's business side of things, would do for starters. One gets the impression the competition organises itself these days.

It depends how you define 'first team' - after all, Kerr and Glozier, for example, who both played, were/are squad players rather than regular first-teamers. That said, you're basically right - the side at Sittingbourne was stronger (with Skins, James Smith, Jukebox and Luke Moore all starting, amongst others) than many who weren't in attendance or didn't see the team on here would give credit for.

I know I said all this last year, but here we go again, not only has the club to get the Kent FA permission to lower prices it also has to get an agreement with the other club involved. As they will get half the gate money I cant see them saying yes in a cut of what might be their last payout from the Kent Cup for this season.

Are you really advocating that the Trust send a letter of protest that might not reflect the views of the directors of the Club? Sounds like a recipe to drive a bigger wedge between the two if you ask me. The Club's official view should be canvassed first.

Agreed , the clubs position should be cnvassed , but the bottome line is that soemone has to represent the fans view on this ridiculous price.

Is the trust also a fans forum?

By the way for £22 I can go and see Charlton v Loverpool the following night includign my cousin picking me up.

Non league mid table team (Reserves probably) V up and coming even lower league team £12

well run local family team V European Champions

£22

A no brainer as I see it

A no brainer if you are a neutral, personally I would pay far more to watch the Fleet than Charlton or Liverpool.
