The first half hour was pretty good and the movement off the ball was good. The lads seemed really up for it. However, throughout the game we were once again lacking up front. We should have taken the lead when Hammett was clean through. He had the choice to shoot or pass but spent too long deciding and the moment was lost. Chopper pu;ed off a couple of good saves in the first half. In the second half we were lucky not to concede when we cleared the ball off the line. We then had a goal disallowed right at the end. I don't know why as my attention was distrated by Very Little Miss Happy. any clues guys.

 

I heard one of Aveley's coaching staff say "For a top of the table side they are poor". I have to agree.

 

Oh well. One out of a possible twelve points. It looks like the best we'll do will be the playoffs

Well it was almost a nightmare start with Chopper forced to make a great save with his legs and then a second save from the lose ball. Matty Negus headed to the Aveley keeper. Rudi Hall and Kieron Woodward were on great form threading balls through for some attacking moves, which appeared to break down too quickly. A lively attack for Aveley kept Chopper on his toes with a great one handed save. Matty Negus headed just over. Aveley’s secret weapon turned up to support them in the form of Jermaine Defoe. Trevor Paul shot a volley just wide with the wrong foot. Trevor Paul shoots a cracking shot from 20 yards dipping just over the bar. If’’s but’s and maybe’s. David Allen headed just wide from a set piece. Bryan Hammatt tried to pass the ball on to Trevor Paul but the pass was too light and the keeper gathered with ease. Lee Smith shot just wide.

 

 

Second half Trevor Paul shoots just over from a flip on from Bryan Hammatt. Lee Smith made a Solo effort. Johnny Morgan had a solo shot just wide. Kieron Woodward had a shot saved. Kieron Woodward off, Kojo Ofori on. Aveley nearly got a goal from a corner and goalmouth scramble. Steve Velandia on, Trevor Paul off. Kojo Ofori nearly became superhero with a great run at the end and slotting the ball in the net but if only he had not used his hand. Shame! Aveley were not that good but confidence is a bit low at the moment.

 

Well Chopper kept his first clean sheet since 13th December so there were positives from this. Good to See Al-James Hannigan on the town bench.

I thought he had a good game until the second half when Aveleys No5 went in late on Campbell .After that he was dreadful.

Who knows? Nice bloke is AJ but come on "what is that all about"?
Please dont say he has been drafted in as cover for Russell Penn's pending suspension, Hacksaw & Geordie as a central defensive partnership perhaps, lets hope not a super tanker turns quicker than both of them!

On the subject of defenders, I thought Dave Allen had an excellent game today, he played well in the centre of defence earlier this season, lets hope he retains his place!
