AFC Wimbledon v Slough Town: MATCH THREAD

Personally I think the Ryman Prem's a pretty good standard and as they have walked through the previous leagues a few of them seem to think that they have a right to do the same thing in this league.

A lot of their players ie Howard, Harvey, Butler, Gell etc have been bought from teams in this league and it's their known standard, they are essentially 'Ryman players' so of course their not going to walk it as some seem to think so.

Er, no it wasn't, the boxing day game with Walton drew 2961 (today's attendance was 2859)

Whilst Gareth was definately MOTM today, I don't think we should forget Clark's efforts yet again. Made at least 1 excellent save in each half if not more, along with some excellent handling from crosses. From the nervous keeper who made his debut at Fisher, he has turned into a real find.

Though G will again take most of the plaudits, I think Hodgey needs a special mention. For talking to Wilko and Mets before the game, he was playing when unfit and to have lasted as long as he did and getting the equaliser was a monumental effort.

Great stuff Hodgey. Now make sure you're fit before G's suspension kicks in!

Great fight back. Both the AFC goals came from defensive mistakes, not marking tight enough, and letting players turn.

McCleary had another outstanding game, and the whole team played well, deserving the point, if not all 3.

The one thing I was disappointed with though was for a crwowd of just under 2900, apart from the odd minute here and there, there was no atmosphere from the home fans.

Considering the noise they made at the Stag, I was suprised that they hardly made any at home.

Whereas our lot were non stop all game.

Great football, and great support, lets keep it going.

Come on Rebels

Just that our support in terms of numbers was probably the best they've had at KM this season and that we came to support our team rather than just chant MK Dons songs at them

Worth a listen though. The commentary team were a bit like Hawksbee and Jacobs

I spoke to Wimbledon supporters before and after the game who were all friendly and said they weren't good enough for promotion. In the bar afterwards quite a few said we were the best supporters they'd seen at the ground all season, and appreciated that we didn't chant about MK Dons.

I am really impressed with their set up, its how a club should be run - ok, so they've got some [****!!****] fans, but then it's to expected when your pulling in nearly 3,000 a game (think of some of the plonkers supporting slough that came to the Yeading game.)

Personally, i had a great day out, i thought in the second half we played some fantastic football. My mate who i've converted to non league football, said the same. McClearly was once again superb, and he seemed to lift everyones passing game. Hodges is a slough legend, just like Daley and Wilko cos they never give up.

I hope AFC don't go up, cos i'd much rather go there for the afternoon than places like Leyton.

Anyone that read the guestbook yesterday, must understand that whenever ANY team draws 2-2 from being 2-0 up, that their fans will claim they should have won the game, and be frustrated that they didn't. Thats football.

No doubt if you had have gone 2-0 up yesterday, and not won, there would be similar things said on this board. The nature of football is usually when a team gets a 2-0 lead, they usually win, and when they don't they claim they should have won.

Its not unusual to see a 2-0 lead clawed back to 2-2 but more often than not a team with a 2-0 lead goes on to win the game.

As for the noise made by our fans, KM can be very quiet. I would counter this by asking though, how much noise is made for your other 40 games. Yesterday was a "cup final" for you lot, but a "normal" game for us. (And I don't mean that in a nasty way either.)

Just listened to little snippets of it. I particularly liked the comment about "the second half definitely going to go the way of the Dons", followed by "I don't care about the commentators curse"!

I also thought hearing Sue shouting at the people walking past her was quite funny!

I think it is totaly wrong of you to say it was our cup final. All we were doing was trying to make more noise than the 2000 home fans. I think I can say without doubt that we succeded, not that thats saying much seeing as your fans made hardly any noise from beginning to end, even when you were 2-0 up.

Trying to make a load of noise against a large home support - maybe, but certianly not our "cup final". Its called getting behind your team, something which your fans don't do.
