[Margate Football Club]

Margate FC has this evening agreed terms with Robin Trott. Robin will be joining us on contract until the end of 06/07 Season.

 

We hope you'll all welcome him when he pulls on his 'gate shirt on Saturday.

Great experienced signing!! Has played for Stevenage. Was at Heybridge and then moved to Billericay in October 05. Can play in defence and midfield I think. Maybe left footed. Good leader. Well done CK.

Agree looks like a good signing.

Quick bit of research suggests that he has played for Grays and Gravesend (found in transfer list between the two clubs in 2003). Also appears to have played for Heybridge and Billericay.

 

From Billericay website:

"Robin returned to Billericay in October after starting the season with Heybridge. A popular player, Robin originally joined Town towards the end of the 2003/04 season, forming an excellent centre back partnership with Pat Sappleton. Robin's former clubs include Stevenage, where he was club Captain."

According to the Billericay forum he lacks a bit of pace. Maybe CK is after another centre back to compliment Trott. Someone with a bit of pace. But I'm pleased with the signing.

Trott now makes the 5th Centre back in the squad plus two other players who can (and have) play in that position. However we still only have one right back and one left back. I know where I would be looking to strenghen.

I think one of the reasons is that he is coming here is that he comes from Orpington (Don't know if he still lives there) and that is where Danny Hockton lives at the moment. Maybe they car share.

Anyway I say welcome to Robin and will give him a big welcoming cheer on Saturday.

agree its a signing that will shake everyone up around him as from what I've heard he is a strong character and a strong defender. So maybe this signing is what will kickstart it for us. Who knows if CK is still talking to player 2 though and maybe more news could follow about that.

Defence: Robin Trott

 

This is what i have been saying all season that we need an experienced and strong player in each position all season and now that has happened hopefully we can start picking up the points i believe we have the players to do this. Up the Gate

I think the reason why we are getting these players is because CK can attract decent players Sam Sodje comes to mind and i also think it is also because Margate have got a good reputation for being up in the Conference.

Captained Stevenage in their two FA Cup ties with Newcastle 97/98 and marked Alan Shearer. Shearer later sent him a signed shirt after refusing to swap initially after row over comments Stevenage made before the games.

 

Sounds like an excellent signing to me.
