I think I'm right in saying that Veli's sentencing is on Fri 8th November, which would make his last game tomorrow night in the Berks & Bucks Cup match against bitter rivals Wycombe. What a game to go out on. Let's hope we finishes with a cracking display and a goal (or two)

Chris,

You may have read in the papers about a 'riot' that occurred after the Millwall v Birmingham match last season, in which a number of policemen and horses were injured. Sadly, it turned out that Veli played a significant role in the disturbances - he was identified as one of a group of people hurling bricks or pieces of paving stones at police. I think he pleaded guilty to a serious charge (not sure exactly what). He is due to be sentenced on Friday (Nov 8th) and the judge has already indicated that it is not a question of whether he gets a custodial sentence, but simply how long it is. I've heard some speculation that 2 years would be consistent with others already sentenced for similar roles in this disgraceful episode. So we don't expect to see Veli again after tonights game (if it goes ahead - torrential rain for the past 12 hours) for some considerable time.

Apologies if I have got any of the details wrong - no doubt someone will correct me.

On a more positive note - you are missing some good football this year ! Long may it continue.

(If you can find a cable supplier that offers Sky Sports in the USA, you should get to see the goals from the FA Cup 1st round game against Harrogate - and who knows - maybe a Second Round match as well).

Regards, Mike

Veli got involved in a riot after the Birmingham/ Millwall game last year, was cought on video and has pleaded guilty to various charges in connection. He has been told he will be sent down, the question is for how long. He has admitted to the local press it was an act of monumental stupidity and feels he has let himself, his parents and the club down in a very serious way. No-one can condone his behaviour and other people involved have been punished severely - one guy who was a solicitor and participated in the riot got send down for two years. The club and many, but not all, fans have stood by him as his behaviour and performance at the club has been excellent - Player of the Year last year, and he has admitted his guilt and understands he has to take his punishment. A very sorry mess!
