Surely Eriksson should go straight away?

Surely his incentive to do well at the world cup would be that it he won it, he could probably get any job in the world.

Assuming you mean any football job, why would he risk waiting? His 'agent' is already touting for his new job, and has been all the time Eriksson has had the England job. Remember his negotiations with Chelsea? If he has any sense, Eriksson will want his new employment fixed before the WC starts. If England fail (and all recent history suggests they will), Eriksson will definitely now be blamed without mercy. He won't want it affecting his job prospects negatively, so he needs something in place by June. The FA will get fed up with him before then though.

Are you saying that with a English manager we would have beaten Brazil? dream on.

Did I say that, Roger?

Erikkson is the highest paid manager at club or country level in the world. Any half decent English manager would have got us to the quarter finals of the last world cup but maybe not have beaten Brazil as you suggest.

Why then should we be paying X million pounds a year for no better job than anyboy else could do? Do you think he's done a good job then?! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Just do what the NFL does. Interview as many candidates as possible, whittle down the list, interview them again, whittle it down further until you have the right man. If Pearce should get the job, who's to say the FA shouldn't do what the Irish FA did when Steve Staunton took the job? Get an experienced manager in who can be a sort of advisor for him on a short term basis while he learns the job.

That's the problem ARAAS, all our press & tabloids....

Those nasty tabloids,- they MADE Eriksson negotiate for other more lucrative jobs while under contract, they MADE him conduct illicit and sordid affairs including with a subordinate employee, they MADE him betray the confidence of his colleagues and employers, they MADE him lobby for a job that someone else already has, and they MADE him appear to be only interested in money and self gratification. Well how unlucky can Eriksson get, when all he has dreamed of all his life is leading his (err..someone elses) country to World Cup victory just for the sheer pleasure of doing so.

From BBC:

"Sven Goran Eriksson will be allowed to line up his next job before quitting England after the World Cup - with the blessing of the Football Association."

What if that 'next job' was for example, coach of Sweden?

That's not what I was implying Anon, I said it's his choice what he does in his private life and he did screw up up with the NOTW and crossed a big line.

My point with the tabloids is with our national sports teams/individuals, they like to build tham all up and then seem intent to knock them down which IMO isn't helpful.
