Scott Forbes

Did not do anything special in his brief introduction yesterday, but certainly looked the part .

I think at least he has some pedigree going by his previous experience.

Looks like its the Bertie factor again as Forbes would have played with Bertie at Canvey Island

(he also would probably have played with Allman at Bishops St.)

Soccer: Forbes happy to be fit

From the archive, first published Monday 3rd Dec 2001.

Southend United winger Scott Forbes admitted he was praying for an injury-free run after making his long awaited comeback in Saturday's 1-1 Roots Hall draw with Lincoln City.

The 25-year-old made a welcome return to the Shrimpers' line-up during this Third Division stalemate after nearly three months on the sidelines nursing a series of knocks and strains.

Forbes was powerless to prevent Lincoln taking the lead through Lee Thorpe however, but the visiting striker's joy was short-lived as the Blues wideman served up an equaliser for Tes Bramble, who levelled things before the break.

And despite the disappointment of not turning a dominant first-half display into three points, Southend wideman Forbes said it was just nice to be back in the fold.

"It was great to be back in the side and hopefully I'm here to stay now," he said. "This season has been very frustrating for me as it has been stop/start all the way.

"But I've worked really hard at my rehabilitation in the gym and I'm feeling a lot stronger now. In fact, I feel like I've done about four pre-seasons!

"Seriously though, it has been hard for me on the sidelines as I like to be involved with the lads. But I'd like to think that my problems are over now and that I'll be rewarded with an injury free run for all the hard work I have put in fighting back to fitness."
