Much much better!

Quality game last night with a quality atmosphere, if every game was like that then we'd get 2,000 no problem. The only negative was our finishing but lets no say too much about that as both our goals were top class. Hard to pick out any players from the rest as I think they all played well (even Gooding at times) but I think Luke Moore and Ross Smith were the two that stood out for me.

Indeed - it was good to see the 'midfielder for a forward' sub coming only very late on.

What also helped was that Canvey put in possibly the worst performance of any side to play us this season, with only one effort of their own to test Holloway (i.e. the low save he made at the end of the first half).

Playoffs really are within touching distance now - 7 points off 5th place, with a game in hand - if we can put a few results together, starting with Grays on Tuesday, its well within our capabilities.

Steady on!

I was pleased that Liam kept the two forwards on after the sending off. It was the right thing to do as it kept a lot of pressure on Canvey who in their quest for an equaliser defended well up the pitch and for once the long ball passes worked a treat and exposed the gaps in their defence. It really could have been 4-nil at least.

Personally I would have chosen Charlie for Man of the Match as he was involved throughout and never gave up trying to hit the target. I also thought that Canvey were rather poor. They have always relied heavily upon Boylan and clearly miss him. I read in the Friday NLP that he is still suffering from dizzy spells after the life threatening injury he recently sustained. I wish him a full recovery.

I also thought that Brian's contribution to the programme was very informative. However, I can't yet agree with him that our programme is one of the best in the Conference. It has improved considerably from last season, but still has someway to go to match, say, the Exeter programme. Keep up the good work!

Talking of the programme it has obviously vastly improved since the days of Tamworth Rovers but there are still one or two glearing errors on the stats page on 44-45. We now seem to be using a new stats system but it needs a key to indicate what the symbols mean.

Also Sodje never game on as sub against Canvey and never played against East Thurrock neither did 2,415 people turn up to watch us play Stevenage.

If they did then it would be a miracle as that was the exact attendance in the next game away at Aldershot, I think we see what has happened there.

However these are only minor errors that just need ironing out, the programme now carries some very good articles as both Racheal and Ashley have vastly improved it's quality and I hope they agree to stay on for another season.

Thought our performance against Canvey was brilliant. We looked like a team who knew what we wanted to achieve from the start. I thought Luke Moore was brilliant, just shame he didn't score late on in the game!

Glad to see a better crowd as well. Much more noise from our fans. Hopefully those who don't come to Stonebridge Road often will be tempted to come back.

Additionally, the problem remains of the names of the players who have left the club being put in a separate box, meaning that the records are incomplete as you cannot see who they played their games against.

Didnt Holloway also have a close range block in the middle of the second half as well?

Yes, but that was after the ball bounced off one of our players I think - hence my use of 'of their own'.

I really enjoyed the game, great atmosphere and the club must be applauded for getting it right. We had loads of new people there, Charlton, West Ham, Southend fans to name a few, I am sorry for those regulars who could not make it but perhaps if the games could be pencilled in for a Friday at the very start of the season, they could re-arrange shifts etc as many of the Saturday workers already do.

The team also seemed to get a lift from the extra noise and played very well. I thought Luke Moore looked good, he and Charlie worked well together.

Canvey were poor, but we got three points and the drum lads could at least sing about Canvey and the song actually have some meaning for a change.

Great night out, I really enjoyed myself.
