Where to sit at Stockport

Recommended Posts

I posted this on our site, but you may as well see my ramblings anyway (below). The reason they don't open the Railway End up is beyond me - something to do with the local council and safety certificates. Makes no sens to me, but there you have it. Anyway:

If it's anything like normal you will get the 16quid tickets first - under the roof down the side - and only once those have sold out will you get the 14quid open seats. Depends how many you're going to bring obviously, but I reckon you can get 800-1000 in the two blocks you get in the Pop Side (Vernon BS Stand to the modernists :-))

I see a few of your lads speculating about the day on one or two sites. Quite simple really, as long as you're up for a beer and a laugh and not a ruck. I notice a few are planning on getting the train so when you come down the steps turn left and come up the station approach. That takes you into Edgeley rather than the town centre. DO NOT WORRY - there are boozers aplenty in Edgeley. In fact there are probably more pubs within 10mins walk of EP than any other ground in the country, with the possible exception of Newcastle. Anyway, turn left at the top of the approach, although you can always cross the road and go straight in the Blue Bell! With varying degrees of quality of beer/atmosphere decent boozers include The Armoury, The Bobby Peel, The Royal Oak, but most are fine down Castle Street which is the main street in Edgeley for pubs, chippies, etc.

If you decide to turn right at the station and go into town, there are plenty of decent pubs there as well. DON'T go into the Grand Central area if you fancy a pint - it's [****!!****]. Best off going down past McDs and heading for the town centre from there. The market place is good for a pint, with several boozers to choose from. Robbies is the local brew BTW and personally I think it's a damn good pint.

Station is 10mins walk from the ground, tops.

Fair enough. Makes sense to do it that way to be honest and maybe we're changing the rules for the Cup. Better view from the back of the Railway End admittedly, but if it's p1ssing down the wind tends to blow straight towards that end of the ground!! You WILL make more noise under the roof as well. Although God knows why I'm telling you - I sit in that stand myself <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> Most County fans sit in the Cheadle End which is at the other end of the ground from the open seats.
