Reasons to hate Stockport

3 - Carlton Palmer (W#####day Scum)

4 - Andy Dibble (not sure if he is still there but I have never liked him)

5 - Gary Megson (W#####day Scum), appeared on the pitch, last game of the season microphone in hand going on about a highest league finish. Got increasingly annoyed that he was drowned out as United players came back on the pitch to celebrate a play off place.

One saving grace is that the fans are friendly (usually) and most of them make it very clear that they hate Mancs

What's this thread? Sheff U hate Stockport? Surely not because we humped you 5-2 at your place when we were a Second Division side? ;-) To be fair we've had some good days with Sheff U, home and away. Some nightmare results as well - I seem to remember a couple of 5-1s along the way! But generally you lot were good lads. Had a great night in Eedgeley with some Sheff U fans after that 'Megson' game you mention. Incidentally Dibble has long gone. Now at Wrexham.

Still, we ARE Northerners, I can't argue with that. :-) But generally friendly with it. SACFC fans should get to www.marionsboard.com for some banter and some idea of where to go if you fancy a decent beer around Stockport/Edgeley.

Carlton Palmer - pig

True - have had some good times in Stockport, particularly after a game at Edgeley when the home fans tried to lynch the board - we had won 2 or 3 nil I think (Dibble gave away a penalty) and there was some suggestion that Stockport were moving to main road.

Got holed up in decent pub and let the other sort of dibble have their fun

Yeah, 2-0. Frankly no-one gave a toss about that result in our end that day. Brendan Elwood is a Sheff U fan by rights and he's done a fantastic job for us since he arrived 14 years ago. But that is the worst thing the club have decided to do in his time here. Those ignorant of the geography might not think it important but moving Stockport across the border in to Manchester is an absolute no-no at Edgeley Park. Our town might be full of fake-Mancs who parade around in their City and Utd tops, but our team is Stockport's team and we're proud of that fact. The poor saps who go from Stockport to Maine Road or Old Trafford are regarded with some disdain and partly explains why we detest the Mancs as we do!

Fortunately Brendan realised the mistake very quickly as a result of events that day. Long forgiven but not forgotten is the best way of describing things now.

You wot? You're the southerners and we all know where the main support for the Red [****!!****] comes from don't we?

The sad thing is I bet you've got more Man U shirts being worn in the centre of St Albans than you have SACFC shirts. And that's not meant to be taking the piss out of you

Actually more likely to be Arsenal due to them:

a) being quite close;

B) training very close; and

c) being quite good (*ducks awaiting abuse from Mr Zeal*)

Having been in the Peacock on a Sunday afternoon sadly I don't think it is due to people lusting after their ladies team.

I was suprised (but pleased to see) just how much Stockport fans hated Man U/City having been at uni with people who couldn't work out if they were from Cheshire or Greater Mancville.

Not sure if you have played Barnsley yet but please beat them.

Played Barnsley at home. Let them take the lead before half-time then destroyed them in the second-half to win 4-1 Our best 45 minutes of football this season. They changed from 'Barnsley's Going Up' to 'Sack the Board' in the space of 20 minutes

'Port' is derived from the word 'ford' as Stockport is situated at an old ford on the River Mersey. And it's Cheshire not Greater Manchester. The Local Government Act of 1974 which caused this abomination and aberration is not recognised
