Trust Statement

BFR

Recommended Posts

You may notice a story in the Slough Observer today about the Trust and its response to Peter Simpson's demand for next years rent. This is based upon a statement released by the Board of the Supporters Trust and the statement written out in full will be on the Trust website shortly, though the Observer were very good to us and published it almost word for word.

Given that this is a Trust matter I'd prefer it if people would talk about it on this Trust forum. Obviously I'll try to answer any questions that supporters have about the statement.

The Board of Slough Town Supporters’ Trust (STST) is calling upon all supporters of Slough Town Football Club to rally together to raise funds ahead of the next football season. In a recent edition of the Slough Observer, Windsor & Eton FC Chairman Peter Simpson demanded that Slough Town FC pay the rent in full for the 2005/06 season on 1st August 2005. Although the Trust is confident that this money will be paid to Mr Simpson by the football club, it would be irresponsible for the Trust not to have a contingency plan in place should this not happen. Therefore STST will be looking to raise as much money as possible between now and the beginning of August.

Chris Sliski, Secretary of STST said ‘What we are attempting to do is safeguard the future of our football club, which is why the Trust was set up. There is no point in our supporters wondering all summer if the club will be able to meet Mr Simpson’s demand. We have to be proactive to ensure that come the new season we can all do what we love – watch the Rebels play football.’

Existing Trust members are urged to renew their membership and invite new people to join. There are fundraising activities already planned and more to come. STST are holding a race night at the Slough Polish Association on Saturday 23rd April. The following weekend a group of fans will participate in the annual Supporters Walk to the last away game of the season. This year a dedicated group will be making the long journey on foot from Slough to Worthing! Graham Taylor, STST Board member and walker said ‘It just goes to show we will do anything for our club. It will make those 62 miles so much easier if we know the people of Slough are backing us through sponsorship.’ All money raised from the walk will be shared between STST and local charity East Berkshire Women’s Aid.

We are thinking of running an event whereby the fans get an opportunity to punch Woody in the face. 50 quid a pop and we are practically there. Happy to help?

Well if you want to make sure you'll be playing at Stag Meadow next season you'd need £25k

The 400 is from people who i reckon would help raise the main amount of cash.

£25 to shut the hell up still stands....

Yes but if Deaner (or whoever) doesn't pay a penny you'd need to raise £25k which should be you aim

Hope that you raise the cash but don't need to pay it. £25k sitting in the bank 'just in case' wouldn't be bad now would it!

Frankly Woody what happens is none of your business is it. In fact what happens with regard to the payments of Slough Town to Windsor & Eton is none of your business either. Now unless you want to join STST how about hopping it from this forum?

Interesting he used the word "effecting" the team(i.e. to bring about) which implies that without the £25K they have no team, rather than "affecting" the team - Freudian slip?
