Oh, and before you start feeling too sorry for t'lad, here's a couple of snippetts about the hospital from the blurb on their website:

'all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, satellite TV and telephone'

'Our catering facilities include a team of professional chefs who provide a wide range of freshly prepared dishes for all patients and visitors. Ward waiters or waitresses visit you in the morning to assist with your selection from the menu.'

The chap who used to drive the red tractor has just phoned me. He can't get on here for some reason and has asked me to post to say that Scott's Dad phoned late last night to confirm that the operation in London took place and was "successful". He is to stay in hospital until this week-end as the doctors want to take the plaster off and have a little look in a couple of days, before re-plastering t'lad and, presumably releasing him on Sunday/Monday.

Scott is in remarkably good form, apparently.

It seems as though the No 3 shirt was left in Sutton Coldfield A&E, however. And we're unlikely to see the socks again.

Scott was at Fortress Clarence Park on Saturday, watching rather than looking for a game as he is on crutches with plaster from toe to err.. err. um.. the top bit.

He was in very good form and said that he is now free of pain. He has a message of good wishes on the voice-mail of his cell-phone from David Beckham, which he is unlikely to ever delete. For those who don't know, Scott accepted a job at the David Beckham Soccer Academy a few weeks ago.

[A picture formed in my mind of Scott sitting at home with his foot up watching Match of the Day when his mobile rang. He looked at the screen - "Becks, D." - and said to his Mum "I'm not taking this call from the boss. If he wants to speak to me, he should phone during office hours". Perhaps not.]

He still hasn't got the shirt or socks back from Sutton Coldfield.

Good luck to t'lad from me.
