ETFC 1 Rothwell 2

lovely stuff

I've seen Mr Peat several times early season at CFC and he was pretty solid. He probably just had a bad day. However, I cannot fathom why anyone would ever ever ever drop Chopper, surely the best goalie in Non-league footy. He punched that ball into his own net agen Concord , but then never made another error until last week. That is phenominal form, so get him back in NOW !!!!!!

I recall an error Chopper made against Ashford (Middlesex) Town in the Mddx Charity Cup - I think it was the semi.

Now, this tells me something. We are in season number 5, Chopper has played in nearly all our games, and we can distinctly remember all his mistakes - all three or four of them, from a player in the most responsible position on the field, the one with nowhere to hide.

If I was manager, I wouldn't find it tricky to put the first name on the teamsheet.

I am glad that people are posting and realising that Chopper is not infallible. I know he reads these boards and would agree that he is not.

For mistakes what about Brentwood?

When Chopper has a bad game he has a nightmare. People are criticising Peat but his performance against Rothwell was better than Chopper's against Potters Bar.

I still dont know if he was dropped, neither he nor Jim are saying and, despite the criticisms made above, if he was dropped I think that was a wrong decision.

Was we at the same games Steph?

Sorry cant agree with that, both goals on Saturday were the fault of Peat, even taking into consideration first game nerves I cant believe you think his performance on Saturday was anything other than poor.

Gazza

I did not say that Peat had a good game but that his performance was better than Chopper's against Potters Bar.

I, personally blamed Chopper for 3 of the goals against Potters Bar and did not see 2 of the efforts as 1 on 1 but Chopper interfering with the defender.

Reading Nicki's comments on the other thread and many of the posters on here they do let personalities interfere with judgement.

BTW I never liked John Brookes either though he was a hero for many people behind the goal at the stadium.

Somebody says on the other thread that Paul's performances have improved lately. Sorry I think they have gone downhill and the lad appears to be loosing confidence. He is also often seen playing wide on the wing - now what is that all about.

And Keiron Woodward still does not do overlaps. But then what do I know. Les Tilley did overlaps, John Tone did overlaps, half back - cant remember his name now but it will come back to me - did overlaps. I have often seen Lee Smith and Dave Allen do an overlap and so does Matty but Keiron often plays wide on the wing collecting the ball around the half way line and carrying it forward for a cross but not to the bye line. That is not an overlap!

I seem to see a different game to many of you. But then I view that game from the side and am closer to the wide players than many of you.

Woodward overlapped all the time when with us. It was one of the key factors in our quadruple winning season. Perhaps he has been under orders not to overlap at ETFC?

Paul has played against us three times this season - once for ETFC and twice for Aveley - and hasn't really frightened us on any occasion. Yet, a couple of seasons ago he ripped us apart when playing for Leyton and notched a hat-trick.

Sometimes I think it's a psychological thing. How comfortable were your defence with Peat playing behind them after so many games with Hall there?

Kettering Evening Telegraph Quote regarding our game against Rothwell

"It was a deserved victory against a side who tried very hard to bully the Bones into defeat.

How Enfield finishedthe game with a full compliment on the field is a miracle-although manager Jim Chandler was red-carded with 7 minutes to go" etc. etc.

Biased or what!

Rothwell were poor and if we had had Russell & Rudi we would have won with ease.
