Yes we know about embarrassment.

 

1) We had the BBC visit us last year and “Our Ground” featured for two hours live last year on Match of the Day LIVE. Just about everyone in the country knows where Canvey Island is now. Can Gravesend beat that?

 

2) Our Manager became very well known throughout football by bringing this club all this way in just 10 years. Can Andy Ford beat that.

 

3) The only silly names I have seen on here are George Manning/ alias Rotten Johnny Shawcraw.

 

As regards to embarrassment , George Manning/Rotten Johnny Shawcraw, you are the embarrassment to Gravesend. You post on here more times than your own clubs forum because you feel you have a little mission of keeping us in our apparent place, whatever that means, which Dave (GNFC) from your own club has even acknowledged. Now that’s what I call embarrassing!

Both post the same sort of rubbish only on the Canvey General Forum (of all the Non League UK boards) and both talk the same garbage. Incidentally, both have only appeared since John Crawshaw (that wasn't his real name, either, but that's a different stroy) was banned from this board.

I'm sussed am I? Sorry to dissappoint you Mr 'Sherlock Holmes' Frenchy but I have no connection with RJS, in fact the only Crawshaw I know plays for St Albans, oh and you'd know him coz he scored against you earlier this season<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thefinger_red.gif" alt="" /> . As for the ISP number this posting, and indeed many others, has been made at a Kent County library, presumably RJS also uses one they all have the same ISP number, so it's back to the drawing board for you, next you'll be saying that Bald Eagle is also me under a different name. He has also become thoroughly disliked, even by residents of Canvey the attendance figures prove that, a lot of other clubs have also come a long way in a few years, Tiverton Town to name one, a nice friendly club who haven't tried to buy success, unfortunatly for you the Ryman league title couldn't be bought last year much to the delight of every other club in the Ryman league. I can't comment on Andy Ford.

Just before you have a go at me for posting on other boards I do not want to start a war of words and I post a lot more on my own board than here. But just wanted to say that, with reference to the above quote, YES Andy Ford can beat that, by one league, in fact its taken less than 10 years to go further. Unless of course you mean solely the fact he has become famous in which case no Andy hasnt, but that is his character and makes him no less a man than Jeff. I personally only come on here to see your results and stuff because I am interested in how well you do and if we get to play you twice next year. I still remember 4000 in Stonebridge Road and the great atmosphere. It would be great to play you lot again i really believe that dispite a few arguments via message boards, that there is a healthy rivalry between the two clubs.

Richard C. Did Andy Ford bring your club up through the football pyramid of say 4 divisions or did he join a club which has been relegated/promoted one division in recent years?

I have not mentioned that AF is no less a man than JK. In fact what I saw in the second match between us last season was a team that although not quite the same class as Canvey, played their guts out for their manager. All respect to him for bringing that out in them.

George let me explain one or two simple issues:

we carry out good hearted banter with other fans from other clubs and enjoy it

Pabird and other names are easily known to other club members for their true identity as they are self mocking titles

We understand that being a club chasing success will gain enemies from the small minded and still further understand that money and effort does not always gain the targeted success

But it does give us one hell of an enjoyable ride

Along with other aspiring clubs the Ryman P has been one hell of an enjoyable bumpy trip for the past few seasons

Don't worry Richard. Nobody will have a go at you for posting on this board, in fact, we enjoy hearing other people's educated opinions. Like you, almost all Canvey fans enjoy banter and apart from some healthy rivalry, there is no true animosity between Canvey and Gravesend. If you look on your own board after the last game of last season, I think you will find that there was a whole host of congratulation messages from the Canvey fans. All sincere too.

 

By all means, take Phil to task for his posting above. Phil will give as good as he gets, but he won't take offence at somebody putting forward an alternative point of view.

 

What you must understand, is that we have put up with this [****!!****] who goes by the various names of George Manning, John Crawshaw and Rotten Johnny Shawcraw for some time now. His sole aim is to wind up Canvey fans by his constant insults which are rooted in his hate/envy of everything Canvey. For a few months it was humourous, for the next few months it was tedious and in the months since then it has become downright annoying. I guess he has won because his intention was to annoy in the first place. However, there come a point where the 'joke' is so thin, it becomes a right pain in the [****!!****] - just like him.

 

You must excuse Canvey fans if they appear to bite but please don't let that stop you from visiting our board and making the odd contribution. You can even insult us if you want and, as long as it's funny, you'll find yourself involved in some excellent banter.

 

Look through some of the postings. Bald Eagle, Colin Zeal, EFM, cum on riccay - they all keep coming back and the love/hate relationship continues to blossom. But look at Rotten George's Johnny postings and I think you'll agree, the only difference between this man and a bucket of the brown nasty stuff, is the bucket.

Never more appropriate than it is here, as for 'constant insults' look at the FA Trophy thread which was closed because someone called MERV reduced it to an insult thread, are you going to claim that was someone else using your name? GM,RJS, whatever you are. Personallly, I think that the changes to the board over the last year in the way of passwords has meant a lower number of posters than there was say a year ago. Have you ever thought however that your style of basically slagging everything Canvey has led to less postings on here. Some people just cannot be bothered to contribute to the board anymore because the same old tune keeps being played and becomes very boring. I tell you what, leave this board alone for say a year or two and see what happens in the way of more postings and football talk. After all, that’s what’s it’s all about..
