travelling urchins

I have heard lots of stories of Norwegians and especially the Dutch travelling to games in the UK, but the best ones are fans who come over specifically to watch non league encounters. I remember watching one where they were taking in as many games as possible in a few days. Completely mad, but dedicated.

Shame that chap got a kicking, but it was asking a lot for the fans to differentiate between the Swedish national flag and a Leeds United scarf, especially when he was probably screaming for mercy in a language no one understood, my first reaction would have been, Yorkshireman, increase frequency of DM kicks. I would like to point out that I have nothing against Yorkshire people, it's a lovely part of the world and provided your local, very friendly.

Earl, what did you think of the windy Jade Stadium? While working there I managed to get to see the Red Hot Chillis! A Strange stadium I thought.

The Westpac however, a totally different place.

Mitch, for your info, Chrishtchurch don't have a pro (soccer) football team, in fact there is only one pro team in the whole country (or was two years ago) and they hail from Aukland.

For all the smart @rses out there, no, they don't win the league every year!! They actually play in the Aussie league.

Jesus, just imagine following them to their away matches. Big air miles I'd guess????

Westy, the "Cake Tin" is indeed a fantastic ground with an electric atmosphere (especially when the All Blacks are playing some of the best running rugby I've ever seen) as is Eden Park in Auckland.

Great memories from both of those matches, not so good from Jade Stadium. It is a rather strange stadium, more like a cricket ground with various size and shape stands.

Unfortunately when I was there it wasn't just windy, we had a torrential 24 hour downpour to contend with as well. By the end of the match every item of clothing I was wearing was absolutely soaked and my souvenir match programme had turned into a papier mache breeze block. Oh, and Brian O'Driscoll got stretchered off in the first minute and the Lions put in one of the most inept displays in their history... but other than that it was fine.

I think I'd rather have seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers play there instead.

who remembers that norwegian fella who turned up last season having followed our fortunes on the net & fulfilling his dream to come to bridge avenue to watch a game.

i think it was the sole purpose for his trip and he went home the next day.
