Mitchelin, I left work at 1700 hrs for Hednesford, changed into my ICU gear and on the ratler reached Tamworth 1852, batmobile at the ready, in the bar 1925hrs!

Urchins fans that night were top drawer, but the team as you say were outdone by long balls to Anthrobus, but they went on to win it beating the Shots and CIFC as well.

BTW Heds sacked their Manager at the end of that season!

The guy who scored their winning goal in the Trophy final became their new manager.

We froze, didn't turn up on the day apart from Boylan. Credit to Hednesford though, they deserved their victory.

Well, I may have lost out to Mitch on the longest journey to home matches contest, but I think I've got the furthest distance travelled for an away match sewn up (if matches following other teams are included). I went on last years British Lions tour to New Zealand and the first test was played in the Jade Stadium in Christchurch, which is approximately 11,800 miles from my Pimlico bachelor pad! Beat that...

imagine going all that way and finding out it was cancelled.

who remembers that norwegian fella who turned up last season having followed our fortunes on the net & fulfilling his dream to come to bridge avenue to watch a game.

i think it was the sole purpose for his trip and he went home the next day.

But Earl, wasn't this an attempt to find the furthest travelled for 'football', unless I'm mistaken the Lions play with the oval variety!

I don't suppose you saw Auckland FC vs Christchurch Villa whilst there, seeing as we got such a kicking in the rugby?

I don't remember that Norwegian chap, but they are renowned for such acts of lunacy. He must take the furthest travelled to an urchins game trophy, I stand bowed in the honour of such a viking effort.

I remember watching a program a few years back about 5 fans of Barrow, that lived in London. Attended every home game, involving a 5 hour train trip each way....

Curses... foiled again!!

Lots of Scando types do trips to England to see their chosen English teams play. I remember going to a West Ham v Leeds match about 15 years ago and seeing some Swedish chap who was probably fulfilling a life long ambition by attending a match at Upton Park. He had decided to display his national identity by draping a Swedish flag over his shoulders, however some neanderthal home fans took this to be some sort of Leeds colours and gave this unfortunate viking fella a bit of a shoeing. I'd be surprised if he bothered coming back for a second visit.
