It seems to me CG that you would need to ask Liam this question because he must have reasons as to why he didnt go for that player.

Er, probably the reasons Jimmy outlined above.

The point I was making was that if you were looking for potential reasons for not signing Hockton, the fact that he's played before in the Conference and not done all that well has to be considered a potential reason.

Interesting one this. Liam prefers signing defenders? I'm not sure that's quite true. His first signing once we were a full time club was Charlie. As Liam as been here for less than a year I think he is still building his team, every good manager builds a good defence first and that is how a good team is built, from the ground up.

I'd hate to see us win 10-8 to a team with a crap defence and good attack one week and then go and lose 8-0 to a team with a good defence and good attack.

I guess that's what were learning about Liam we can build a fantastic defence with what we have, not many teams are going to hammer us; since Liam joined us our biggest defeats minus the freak result at Grays have been 3-0 on a few occasions and 3-1 on a few occasions.

If we build a decent defence that is hard to break down then were only going to be within a couple of goals of the opposition even if we do get beat and then we could always nick a few goals, see games against Altrincham, Crawley, Morcambe, Dagenham and nearly Exeter ect.

We have conceaded 32 goals in the league this season, 6 of them in one game if I recall, 3 times in 3 seperate games so thats over half of our goals in only four games out of the 23 we've played, so if you were to put a positive spin on it you could say perhaps the conditions were against us.

Liam signed a quality centre back in the summer in Ross Smith he also signed James Smith. I don't include the latter Smith to be quality just yet but who knows given time. Perhaps in the future Smith and Smith we'll be known as a quality centre back pearing and Liam will have half the job done. I shall imagine for some of the time we'll continue to play the long ball game that we fell victim to yesterday, it worked very well for Borham Wood wouldn't you say.

Now I'm off to crawl back up the clubs backside apparently.

Charlie Mac is here to use us as a stepping stone to better things. I don't care he is a quality player and as long as he trys his best when on the pitch and acknowledges the fans you can't fault him. I know thats not what your saying CG but lets not pretend that players do it because they "Love the shirt". At least they don't over do it like Frank don't forget to kiss the badge Lampard.

Sodje was here to gain experiance for this level and prepere him for league football and one day the Premiership not because he used to stand in the Northfleet end.

Hockton has played in the Conference and was rubbish - why sign players like that?

He might well have scored 25 goals in the South, so has Sigere and he was really prolific with us wasn't he? Claiming an own goal from Mark Hotte as his own.

Tait trialled for us and was deemed not good enough - he's hardly prolific and has never impressed me.

Dryden scores loads of goals for Folkestone but it's strange noone has ever taken a chance on him - not even Dover.

Kedwell looks alright, but maybe too one dimensional for the Conference.

I'd rather we didn't sign anyone than waste money on people who won't be good enough - i include loan players in this.
