how was your day today? I see you lost at home 4-2

We lost again, just when I thought we were back on track after a good midweek away win

I'm a bit worried about Nov 16

Unreal just about sums it up. Though our defending was poor for all four of their goals.

goal 1: hopeful looping punt to left side of pitch leaves braintree man with one on one with, I think, Moran, who misses his tackle or slips leaving Braintree man with easy shot on goal.

goal 2: corner from right. unmarked braintree man in middle heads straight at Naylor on the line who either doesn't see it or it just glances off his head into the net.

goal 3: breakaway down right. Their no.7 (their best player) crosses perfectly for unmarked striker to head easily past Roberts.

goal 4: Roberts misjudges pass-out and only passes to Braintree man who advances and beats him easily.

All a bit worrying really considering they had very little possession and didn't create anything apart from the goals.

At the other end, I still can't believe how the ball didn't go in the goal more often. I lost track of the number of goal chances we had. How the ball can strike a goalkeeper lying on the line and spin off and up over the bar will always be a mystery to me.

Oh well, at least the pressure is now on Aldershot and we can lurk about until it really matters next spring.

Rob

I think you are being kind to Roberts in your descriptions of goals 1 & 4. For the first, once their player was past Moran the gap at the near post was just sooo inviting! And for the last, after he had passed it to their player he just stood on his line and waited for the shot, rather than closing the space. As webbo says, Wilmot must be back in goal for tomorrow.

Another Rob

PS - the report on the web-site has Wilmot selected in goal. If I were him, I'd sue webbo for blaming that shambolic goalkeeping display on me!

PPS - at least it was exciting and my 8-year old son now wants to come down the Park every Saturday

Oi Rob.

Out of curiosity, which match report have you corrected? Was it the one on the 'Latest News' section of the site? The one that said it was a "pulsating" game?

Pulsating?

"Expanding and contracting rythmically" was it? "Vibrating" did you think? "Quivering" as well? Hmmnn.

Where did you get that from? Was it from the chap who ghost writes The Duo's programme notes and supplies their interviews to The Observer? He's a menace, that chap.

Pulsating.

[Oh, by the way. Did you notice in Saturday's programme the comment "We have to appreciate that our opponents today may come for the draw and that we may have to be patient."? Good job they weren't up for the win, then.]

Hi AFF

Definitely pulsating, though maybe more AC than DC.

Anyway AFF, while you are enjoying a post-match half of bitter spare a thought for those poor unpaid hacks that have to update the website while suffering from a terminal case of trench foot. At times like those you don't tend to worry too much about the niceties of the English language.

Good report on the pyramid site just in, mainly factual, but fair I thought. Check it out here.
