Billericay 1-3 Purfleet

Did OK 1st half - fell behind against run of play but battled back with a Wallace equaliser. 2nd half v poor - went 2-1 down straight after the break didn't manage a shot on goal for 25 minutes of the 2nd half. Carthy hit post, but JJ conceded a pen after a nightmare pass from Danny K put him in trouble.

This all seems strangely familiar - when the leaves fall off the trees, Billericay crash out of FA cup and league form goes down the toilet. C'mon Blues, prove me wrong..........

So was this Calders best attempt at getting his players 'up for it'? Its no surprise we are looking lifeless and short on ideas. One week calder playes Rantala (who most seem to agree should be playing) in midfield, a position he is not at his best in whilst Penn is at centre half. The next week we ditch the 3 at the back after playing it for weeks just in time for the cup game so the players then have to go back to settling in to a new system.

Against P'fleet last night we were all expecting a tough game and probably a draw considering two low scoring teams and tight defences so to get stuffed 3-1 is a joke. The goals were all soft goals. I dont agree players are not up for it, its the way they are being asked to play, i think their commitment in tackles has been non existant, Carthy for one was a real ball winner last season, i cant rememeber him doing a thing last night and if it wasnt for Brennan having yet another stinker then Carths should have been subbed. You would have thought he would have been up for putting one over his old team. The players look confused some of the time as to where they are playing. Its worth pointing out that since Ollie arrived i think we have let in something like 12 goals as opposed to the 5 before he got here (that was from memory so maybe wrong). How does that make Penn feel? i would say it not going to help his confidence. Same for Dave Mac, in the best defence and we change it.

I know the players dont seem to be putting 100% in at the moment but i feel the management has to take more than their share of responsibility. funny how when we are having our worst patch of form Calder pops in the programme and almost in passing mentions Joe has been sold for a four figure fee. Then mentions Scotty is gone, leaving us with the feasome strike force of Wallace, and fewings. Roy has been poor lately and the only bright light is DJ who could be recalled by stevenage any time.

If Calder cannot make a team made up of some very good players play well then maybe he has done as much as he can. He is in a position most managers would love having talent all over the park but if he cant make them play well together than maybe let Borg have a free run at it or maybe lets have a fresh face.

i know we are still well positioned but i think its the fact that the signs are not good at the moment and 3 straight defeats does not suggest things are getting better.

After reading the postings from sat's game, a lot of people mentioned their feeling for the managment. So why boo the players off tonight? thats not going to help them and if its the management we have issues with then lets direct the vocals at them, otherwise we will be losing the players even more confidence.

I thought that the most worriying thing about last night was that most of the players were trying pretty hard, this obviously means that the Management were at fault. Does anyone know what our tactics are at the moment one minute we are humping the ball forward for DJ to control the next we are knocking it around in midfield and moving backwards. What do we do in training? Free Kicks are a joke (no defender has scored this season) and there is basically no pattern to our play.

Carthy was lucky to stay on the pitch after being on a yellow and then elbowing a player. Why was he not subsituted straight afterwards?

Have to say though that the cross from Kerrigan for the goal was outstanding.

Where do we go from here? Calder better come up with something quick or the excuse that we are still 3rd,5th,8th (it changes week after week) in the league will not hold up much longer.

Following on re Calders comments in last night programme about Joe moving to Aylesbury on a permanent basis, the only place as far as I know that this was reported was in the Non-League newspaper a few weeks back so how can he appear to be so surprised that people didnt know this?? For a start how many people buy this newspaper or have access to the internet?? And why did Rob Moore report in his Gazette column last week that a permanent deal hadnt been agreed and that he could be recalled at anytime?? Calder also had the opportunity to say something in the programme for the Enfield game but didnt, why?? Not even the official club website had anything to say on the issue, so how was everyone suppose to know?? Sorry to rant on about this but Calders comments in last nights programme and in particular his attitude on the subject really got my back up and I just felt I had to say something.

I agree, I thought the lads played worked hard on Friday, so why didn't we get the result? Were the tactics wrong?

You mentioned that we kicked the ball around in midfield. I must have been watching another game 'cos all I saw was a long ball played to the front guys, with them laying it back to the midfield. I know we must've played something through the midfield but not a lot.

Gazza, I was more implying that when we had the ball in midfield we then passed sideways then backwards and knocked it around in defence causing absolutely no concern to Purfleet whatsoever (this was then followed by the big hoof forward!)
