"Slough Town FC's start to the football season has been given a boost with the announcement of plans for a new stadium.

Proposals include a stadium in the Colnbrook area with a shopping centre, restaurant or casino, and sharing a base with the town's ice hockey team, Slough Jets.

The new plans for the Rebels come as the current chairman Martyn Deaner hands over control of the club to Thames Valley Sports Ltd.

Slough's team was officially founded in 1890 and it is hoped that with a new stadium the club will soon shoot up the leagues.

Recently the Rebels have been sharing a ground with Windsor and Eton FC after lease problems at their traditional home Wexham Park.

Currently Slough Town is in the Ryman Premier Division but a strong season this year, backed by the good news over the club's future, could see them rise into the Football Conference South and into the Nationwide Conference, the step below the football league."
