Everyone's gone to Exeter tonight so no one's available to comment. Nothing was mentioned when I spoke to the Club this afternoon, so it may have happened just before they left.

Is anyone going to tell them that a one month loan probably means one match?

And I had to put up with a lot of abuse and vitriol some time ago even to suggest it would be a good idea for Ports to go on loan for a month to gain match fitness.

Maybe Liam does read this forum after all and take heed of what the more sensible amongst us have to say.

While it is a good idea in principle, it again leaves us a little short of cover, just like when James Smith went on loan to Margate - especially given that Ross went off ill at half-time on Saturday.

Was that not about the same time that we only had Ross and the fourth best Drummer in the Beatles as cover though? We now have a more experienced James Smith and possibly look at getting Bret back.

Anyway just because Liam Daish does it does not mean it is a good idea.

 • 4 weeks later...

Will he ever come back?

Or will he be released from his contract to get any realistic chance of regular first team football.

With MaCarthy, Ross Smith, Jamie Smith and now Watkins all seemingly ahead of him, all vying for the 2 centre back positions it would come as no surprise if Liam were to lose interest in him.

Shame, but that's progress and full time football for you.

One can see a similarity with Ben Surey. After going on loan he was only ever going to be bit part squad player.

What chance does Ports have against the (stand-in) club captain and 2 solid full time youngsters in Smith and Smith.

A place on the bench is the best he can hope for, barring injuries. Not exactly what is needed for an injury prone, part time the wrong side of 30.
