I vaguely remember the Villa fans at the far end wouldn't do the Mexican Wave, and were even booed by their own fans!

 

Great day, can't believe it was 10 years ago. Shame the 6 thousand supporters that day all disappeared the following week!

great day out we even took over the watford gap services on the way i recall ended up in sum pub nr the the ground with many fleet fans including a blow up doll awesum

I was 13 at the time and some non league club versus Aston Villa (who bore the hell out of me) is not the most exciting afternoon. I was there with a friend of about the same age and we spent the afternoon talking.

Sorry if I got it wrong perhaps I was thinking of another incident. Although I was talking to Jimmy yesterday and he also said that it was a move down the left. You know I'm talking about their left, right?

No I'm trying to rack my brains thinking who they had in the third round that year without looking it up. They got to the Semi's that year and also ended their run at Villa Park losing to Man Utd.

I can remember the day well, it was my first ever Fleet game. These are a few of the things are most remember

 

We stopped at the Motorway services on the way up and the Restaurant was full of people going to support the Fleet.

 

As my brother and I didn't have advance tickets we had to go to the away ticket office to get them. When we get there I only know the man in front because he's my manger at work, small world!

 

I also agree with an earlier comment we definitely made more noise than the Villa fans.

It seems that for a lot of current Fleet fans Aston Villa was the first match they attended.

We should do it again sometime soon and fire the interest of the next generation of Fleet fans.

Exeters attendances are over 20% up since playing Man Utd last season, of course some of that is down to league position but would they be there without the Man Utd money?

It will be interesting to see how Burton's attendances are affected by this years FA cup.

I read that over the 2 matches, Burton would turn in a profit of nearly £1 million.

Even if they lost 10-0 at Old Trafford, I guess their chairman will be a very happy bunny after wednesday's replay!
